Reports to: Practice Manager/Radiology Team Leader

Physical Qualifications:
 Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination for operation of all department equipment.
• Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Physically assists patients and places them in appropriate positions.
• Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionization radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Essential Functions:
• Perform and maintain competency in, Abdominal, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Biopsy and limited vascular ultrasound studies, demonstrating technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans and the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualized
• Record scan for permanent record.
• Assures an adequate clinical history is available which correlates with examination being performed
• Develop and present images and related patient information to physician for diagnosis
• Demonstrate competence in all areas of ultrasound positioning, physiology, procedure preparation and technical factors; operates all ultrasound equipment and can select and modify technical factors as needed.

DOCUMENTATION:
• Gather complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to all customers
• Routinely prepare examinations for interpretation to include: correct identification and processing of images, adequate clinical history, proper charging, accurate and thorough input of computer information and consistently obtains previous sonograms for
comparison
• Identify patient by checking patient’s full name and medical record number according to department procedure
• Review patients' charts and orders to ensure correct examination
• Label images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation
• Perform quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function

PATIENT CARE:
• Provide for patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with policies and procedures
• Provide for good patient rapport by maintaining positive and effective communication skills, alleviates patient anxiety and addresses patient concerns about side effects by explaining and instructing patients on the nature of ultrasound procedures
• Provide respect for patient modesty by proper transportation of patients on and off tables and sees that patients are properly clothed and covered during the examination
• Maintain awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs
• Communicate and use knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to ensure appropriate and effective care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
• Strictly adheres to probe disinfectant policy and procedure
• Maintain appropriate certification and professional expertise through continuing education
• Use professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to customers and staff

Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
• Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification
• Current OBMI as a Medical Sonographer
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Expert knowledge of anatomy and physiology, imaging principles and practices, as well as the ability to obtain high-quality images
• Computer skills and knowledge of keyboard functionality

Salary range: $35.00-$50.00
