Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing  €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.
Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!

As Instrumentation engineer and part of the Hardware Platform Operation Team, you will be in charge of operating, maintaining and implementing in mechanical racks cutting-edge instrumentation systems, that are central to our quantum processors. Instruments include RF and DC sources, as well as Vector Network Analyzer, Oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. You will also support the users in their daily experiments and characterization, the goal of the team being to focus 100% on operational excellence and quality, to ensure the highest availability rate.

Responsibilities:

    • Rack and instrumentation maintenance:
    • Operate the existing drive electronics systems including monitoring and performance checks.
    • Implement V&Vs plans, mostly in Python and using equipment such as VNAs, fast oscilloscopes, SMUs, signal generators,…
    • Elaborate and implement daily and preventive maintenance plans
    • Monitor the different sensors to follow changes in the system environment, and propose action plan to reduce the variations
    • In collaboration with IT, ensure proper network managements for the instruments located in the racks and labs. Run connectivity diagnostic tools.
    • Assist in implementing cabling following users’ requests and schematics
    • Ensure all systems meet Alice & Bob’s rigorous standards for accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.
    • Write reports and ensure the logs journal of each systems are up to date
    • Troubleshooting & Optimization:
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to the instrumentation and control electronics, ensuring continuous operation within our quantum processor.
    • Asset management
    • Assist in managing and and tracking high-value instruments and components across racks and cryostats, from different locations
    • Ensure calibration schedules and upkeep of test equipment and tools
    • Configure and manage instrumentation database
    • Align with purchasing team to place orders to maintain and develop the stock of equipment
    • Organize and manage shipments with distributors and partners
    • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams & partners:
    • Work closely with other engineering teams, including your teammate, Quantum Hardware Infra colleagues, physicists and software engineers, to ensure the seamless alignment of hardware and software in our quantum processors.
    • Interact with our internal purchasers to order equipment
    • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Ensure processes, test results, and system configurations are thoroughly documented. Provide regular updates and reports to the team on your projects progress and timelines.

Requirements:

    • Master or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF characterization/measurement and control electronics
    • Experience with test benches and measurement systems; such as Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, VNAs, Power Meters, Signal Generators
    • Experience in test & Test procedure definition; V&V plan
    • Experience in Python programming and remote control of instruments (SCPI for example)
    • Experience in SOP writing/execution
    • Professional English
    • Nice to have: experience with Cryogenic, Quantum, FPGAs; electrical prototyping (cable crimping, soldering) and professional French

Benefits:

    • Our success is your success : own it with our BSPCE plan
    • Turn your ideas into patents – and (competitive) patent bonuses
    • Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
    • A Parental plan including additional benefits such as crèche support or additional days-off to take care of under 12 years old children
    • Subsidized membership with Urban Sports Club
    • Mental health support with moka.care
    • 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
    • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for the die-hard bicycle users
    • Competitive health coverage, with Helium/Axa
    • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped and regularly stocked kitchen

Recruitment Process:

    • Screening Call with Giusy, Talent Acquisition Specialist (30 min)
    • Hiring Manager Interview with the Hiring Manager (45 min)
    • Technical Interview/Presentation with the Team (60 min)
