Alice & Bob are a deep tech company going through an R&D stage to build the first fault-tolerant Quantum Computer. We secured 30 million USD in funding to further develop our unique technology.

We are a young team with some of the brightest scientific minds joining us straight from completing their PhD or university. Of course, we are serious about our mission and participation in the quantum race alongside tech giants like Google and IBM, however we are also keen to create ever-lasting memories. As Alice&Bob’s quantum computer is getting ready to address real-life problems, we’re building A&B’s new business unit: the Box. It is a mix quantum information experts and business-oriented profiles to deliver concrete solutions to Alice&Bob’s clients.

One of our goals is to help companies across sectors harness the power of Quantum Technologies to solve challenging & valuable industry problems. First, we craft opportunity roadmaps around concrete use cases. Then we help them prepare for the emergence of true Quantum Computing at scale in the coming years by creating the quantum algorithm and building a solution.

As a Quantum Engagement Manager, you will be leading consulting projects with our clients and managing all activities aimed at bringing in new clients. You will be part of the Growth & Organization team and report to the Quantum & Business Strategy Manager

This role will require a strategic mindset, but also hands-on work at first, while we are shaping the business unit. Over time it will be increasingly focused on coaching and managing junior colleagues. 

Responsibilities

    • Leading client projects
    • Developing frameworks to explore and identify uses cases
    • Work closely with our technical team to determine the quantum opportunity for the client
    • Translating technical insights into deliverables aimed at a business audience
    • Meeting with the clients and helping them to understand the opportunity
    • Prioritize high-impact quantum applications that are in line with the client's business goals and capabilities
    • Build a business case for the selected quantum applications
    • Craft a quantum application roadmap and actionable workplan, including cost estimates and resource requirements
    • Fulfill a translator and project manager role during application development and implementation, making sure that business and technical stakeholders are on the same page and the project progresses smoothly
    • Managing the day-to-day process and interactions with our client and partners
    • Building long-term, trust-based relationships with the client
    • Synthesizing knowledge by project to scale the activity in the coming years 
    • Managing business development
    • Developing client development materials, such as new client pitches and workshops
    • Attending conferences and tradeshows, building relationships with new potential clients
    • Building your personal reputation as an expert in the field and create a strong corporate network of quantum users to bring in new clients
    • Building partnerships with consulting players, and quantum software and application companies
    • Team and company building
    • Build frameworks and processes for this growing business unit.
    • Coaching and managing junior consultants.
    • Communicating internally on the value of this business unit, as well as user insights to a team of scientists
    • Contributing to software development by sharing the end-user perspective
    • Play a pivotal role informing the company-wide strategy by gathering insights on the quantum computing market, ecosystem and applications

Requirements

    • A solid technical background, e.g. MSc. or PhD in physics or a related field
    • Strong consulting toolkit, e.g. through 1-2 years of experience in a consulting firm
    • A strong interest for quantum computing and motivation to deep dive, coupled with a good understanding of the power & limitations of the quantum computing technology spectrum
    • Ability to communicate with different audiences, written and orally
    • Good client hands
    • Attention to detail
    • A vision of clients as end users / customers of our future quantum products
    • A strong team spirit
    • The wish to experiment in a “entrepreneurial” unit
