Summary
The Procurement Strategy Director establishes a procurement department to shepherd the acquisition of goods and services in conjunction with and on behalf of the airlines’ operating managers. Acquisition activities will range from the negotiation of large one-off deals to the establishment of long term, repetitive purchase-type supply relationships. In conjunction with operating department managers, the Director develops and executes strategies that maximize the company’s resources. The position’s primary responsibilities require significant interaction with various departments internally including Stations, Flight Operations, Inflight, Aircraft Maintenance, Airport Operations, Supply Operations and Financial Planning & Analysis. Externally, the position will require extensive interaction with current and potential suppliers and service providers.

Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Education Details: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
Years of Experience:
•Minimum five (5) years of leading a team of professionals in contracting, procurement and/or vendor management.
•Minimum ten (10) years of experience in aviation is preferred.
•Strong intellect and aptitude desired, along with the ability to manage multiple and varied activities.
•Good leadership and people management skills, effective communication skills and an ability to prioritize and effectively problem solve.
•Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in order to interact with various departments internally including Stations, Flight Operations, Inflight, Aircraft Maintenance, Airport Operations, Supply Operations an Financial Planning & Analysis as well as interact with current and potential suppliers and service providers.
Preferred Requirements
•Master's degree.
•Ten (10) years of experience in aviation.
•Previous leadership roles in contracting, procurement and/or vendor management.
•Familiarity with financial analysis, planning tools and negotiation techniques.
Job Duties
•Provide leadership, company-wide support to various departments with respect to the procurement process, contracting, service agreements and vendor management.
•Institute a procurement process, contracting parameters and ongoing vendor management and contract administration processes that assure internal stakeholders remain properly engaged.
•Utilize and streamline the purchase process to engage, inform and educate internal stakeholders.
•Establish cross-functional teams and provide leadership on strategic sourcing projects.
•Use and develop a professional procurement organization to meet the operation needs in respect of purchase of assets and services. Assure the appropriate goods and services are acquired in the right quality and quantity and at the best total cost of ownership.
•Conduct spend analysis, analyze supply options, identifying sourcing value levers, execute competitive RFIs / RFPs and lead supplier negotiations.
•Establish a strategy to achieve the function’s mission and vision. Communicate the mission and vision down through the organization.
•Organize the area to assure that proper processes are followed for contracting and concluding services agreements with the suppliers keeping the financial schedule of powers.
•Select managers and mentor them to improve their performance. Assist them to establish their goals and objectives. Assure the appropriate training, assistance, coordination and time are available to carry out the objectives. Re-prioritize as necessary.
•Direct the performance of special projects that provide continuous improvement. Facilitate the resolution of issues within the department and across functions by lending expertise and actively directing the process of problem solving.
•Interface with Vice Presidents and Directors within each operating group to assure the efficacy of purchase planning and contracting decisions.
•Advise upper management on key issues and keep the VP, Procurement, informed on progress in each area, and seek guidance from VP Procurement, particularly as it affects the department’s performance and commitments.
•Supervise Sr. Procurement Manager, Manager Airport Contracts, Manager Ground Service Equipment, Manager IT Procurement, Manager Tool Program, and rest of the team.
•Perform other duties, as assigned by the Vice President Procurement and Senior leadership.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
