Summary:
The Accounting intern will directly support the Accounting department in their daily responsibilities and duties of Allegiant Travel Company

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Semesters & Terms: Fall/Winter: (approximately Sept-Dec) Winter/Spring: (approximately Jan-Apr) Summer: (approximately May-Aug)

Interns may work between 15 and 29 hours per week depending on class schedule and credits received
Interns, their spouse, parents, domestic partner, or travel companion & any eligible unmarried dependent children under the age of 21, of the intern will receive unlimited, space available, individual flight privileges on Allegiant Air (all fees waived) for the term of the internship
No medical or similar benefits are provided
Must be enrolled in an accredited university, with preference given to candidates that will have completed at least two (2) years of university-level coursework. Relevant coursework includes: accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skill essential
Sound problem solving and structured yet unconstrained thinking capability valuable
Basic computer skills
Microsoft Excel (or significant computer programming) proficiency strongly desired
Ability to create spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs is extremely advantageous
Interest/experience in accounting, business, and/or finance advantageous
Job Duties:
Assist with preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns
Assist with maintenance of tax depreciation records.
Prepare and file sales tax and other non-income based tax returns and related schedules.
Prepare and perform account reconciliations for the monthly closing process.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, key board, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
