Allied is looking for a Manager, Lease Documentation to join our team.
At Allied, everything starts with purpose. In the role of Manager, Lease Documentation, you will support the leasing and contracting process for our portfolio. This, in turn, allows Allied to build relationships with tenants on legally sound foundations.
Please note, our department of Lease Documentation is often referred to as Legal Affairs or Legal Operations in the industry.

What will you do?
- Negotiate and draft commercial leases and ancillary agreements for the Montreal portfolio of properties.
- Document each drafting file with required backup and approvals.
- Provide drafting solutions and recommendations to the Leasing Department in connection with the negotiation of offers, LOIs, etc.
- Ensure lease documentation complies with company policies, procedures, and strategies.
- Coordinate the approval and execution of lease documentation for both tenant and landlord.
- Develop, improve, and maintain standardized precedents and clauses to mitigate risk and maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Be aware of, and responsive to, changes in legislation and case law.
- Document/update all standard lease and ancillary precedents and clauses in the legal library.
- Provide expertise and collaborate with the Leasing Team to bring forward drafting solutions and recommendations in connection with negotiating offers.
- Review and respond to internal and external inquiries in relation to the interpretation and application of lease provisions.
- Upon request by Portfolio Operations Department: (i) draft tenant defaults/ terminations notices in-line with lease; (ii) review and provide opinion on salient lease terms; and (iii) prepare, review, and negotiate general contracts.
- Collaborate with Leasing Team and the Lease Documentation Department to establish and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and create best practices, tools and templates.
- Upon request by Acquisitions Department: (i) review and summarize lease documentation with an emphasis on risk mitigation; and (ii) draft estoppel certificates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Interdepartmental Responsibilities
What are we looking for?
- A law degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) or a recognized paralegal diploma, or significant experience (membership in the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires is an asset).
- Minimum 7 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial lease documentation.
- Strong commercial leases negotiation abilities.
- Commitment to providing high-quality customer service, both internally and externally.
- Ability to formulate tailored solutions to complex issues.
- Demonstrates rigor and ability to draft high-quality legal documents.
- Ensures rigorous and structured management of file documentation in accordance with company guidelines.
- Ability to work both independently and cohesively with team members and individuals of other internal departments.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Word.
- Impeccable interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communications skills with fundamental problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Adaptable in response to fast paced environment with changing needs and competing priorities.
- Bilingual in French and English, as the individual will need to be able to draft in both languages.
