Allied is looking for a Building Operator to join our Technical Services team.

What will you do?
- Collaborate with all departments to ensure smooth building operations and efficiency.
- Conduct inspections and complete repairs, as necessary, on all site mechanical, electrical, and HVAC/BAS systems and related equipment.
- Support the inspection, monitoring and testing of building security and life safety systems, reporting any discrepancies.
- Respond to tenant concerns in a timely manner and assist in finding appropriate solutions.
- Complete minor maintenance and repairs as required, including carpentry, drywall and paint, lamp replacement, lubrication of doors, washrooms and fixtures, among others.
- Respond and assist with seasonal building requirements, including snow clearing and removal, salting, and seasonal planting and watering.
- Carry out execution of all preventative maintenance tasks.
- Ensure service contracts are enforced, service levels are achieved, and contractors are adequately supervised when on site.
- Maintain shop and equipment inventory and cleanliness, requesting replacement inventory as required.
- Respond to after-hour calls and/or emergencies.
What are we looking for?
- 2 years’ experience in building operations and general maintenance in a commercial, retail, or industrial environment.
- Foundational knowledge of building operations, life safety, and building systems, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems,
- An assertive self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Collaborative, team player.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to work overtime to respond to emergencies and business demands.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certificate of Building Environmental Systems: BES I & II, SMA/SMT, 4th Class Power Engineer, or equivalent.
- Understanding of energy management practices, heat transfer principles, and sustainability.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) and First Aid and CPR training.
- Experience in working at heights and use of booms and lifts.
- Knowledge of Yardi FM or other building management systems.
