The Director, Human Resources Operations role is both strategic and operational. The Director, HR Operations will see around corners and plan for the Human Resources implications of the dynamic business environment, and they will roll up their sleeves and work with the team in a hands-on way to implement and manage Human Resources programs, processes, systems and policies. This position oversees and administers daily operational activities of the Human Resources function, including benefit program strategy, oversight and administration; compensation practices and structures; HRIS system maintenance and updates; payroll coordination; administration of LOAs, FMLA, ADA, and other federal and state leave of absences; department budget and planning; performance management, including oversight of performance improvement plans and terminations; manager and employee consultation; support for employee onboarding / offboarding; and compliance and policies for all mandated filings for each jurisdiction, including ad hoc state requirements.
In partnership with senior Human Resources leadership, this position helps to maintain and enhance the organization's Human Resources department by planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and practices. The Director, HR Operations is responsible for promoting a work environment that exemplifies the company's mission and values, and supports the leaders' goals to hire, engage, develop, and retain top talent and build the organizational capabilities required for short- and long-term business success.
Duties and responsibilities
· Bring data-informed driven analytics to all aspects of the Human Resources function, assessing trends, informing strategic decision-making, and driving improvements based on insights.
· Oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle management, and continuously improve Alpine’s processes.
· Maintain compliance and ensure all policies and practices comply with local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
· Benefits & Compensation
o Coordinate company payroll and benefits administration
o Ensure all health and welfare benefit programs are current to trend, practices, compliance, company philosophy and competitive environment.
o Monitor, administer, and evaluate the company's benefits programs including employee health insurance programs, retirement plans, PTO and leave policies.
o Lead compensation planning activities related to performance management, including year-end merit and bonus review.
· Systems, Processes, Policies & Compliance
o Own aspects of HRIS; maximizing our current systems and implementing new features or systems where needed. Enter changes and updates to employee information, and organizational structure changes.
o Act as a consultant to managers and employees regarding procedures, systems, and policies
o Make recommendations to communicate changes or the creation of new policies, technology, and programs.
o Oversee aspects of the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance, including aspects of publicly traded companies’ responsibilities.
o Conduct audits in partnership with the Finance and Accounting teams as well as outside vendors.
o Maintain guides to all processes for training and reference.
o Track and integrate new regulations, laws, and best practices into our policies, handbook, record keeping system, and technology.
o Annual review and update of all policies and procedures.

o Support the recruitment function including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, evaluating employment factors, salary recommendations, and offer facilitation.
o Work on team projects that impact the Human Resources team’s effectiveness and partnership with the organization.
o Perform other general Human Resources related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management or organizational development.
· 10+ years of progressive prior work and experience in people operations / human resources.
· Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including HRIS, benefits, compensation, recruiting, employee relations, DEI, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
· Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.
· Ability to position self as credible (garners respect, acts with integrity, keeps commitments); proactive (has a point of view, challenges assumptions, takes initiative); and a trusted thought partner (builds relationships, delivers results).
· Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.
· Equally adept at consulting, thinking strategically and execution. Exhibits a roll-up your sleeves attitude
· SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or HRCI Certified Professional (PHR, SPHR) credential preferred
· Excellent consultative, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to influence and consult effectively with leaders at every level.
· Ability to work in an environment with multiple competing deadlines.

This position is a Director level position, with a compensation range of $170,000 to $205,000 dollars per year. In order to be considered for a position, candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to WA and able to work a hybrid schedule with 1-3 days/week from Alpine's Seattle location.
