Alpine is seeking a strategic, dynamic, and innovative Vice President, Global Medical Affairs, Immunology.  At Alpine, we are developing drugs in Immunology, including auto-immune renal, hematologic and neurologic disease, and SLE. In collaboration with executive leadership, the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs will define medical affairs’ strategy and goals, develop and implement Medical Affairs plans, policies and procedures while maintaining excellence in standards and practice. He/she will advance collaborations with key opinion leaders and oversee plans for scientific engagement with health care practitioners and academic research centers. This instrumental role provides leadership and oversight for the following functions, including overall medical strategy, scientific communications, medical education, medical operations, and field medical affairs. The position will work closely with R&D, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, and the Commercial department to provide medical affairs input to product development.
 
Duties and responsibilities:
 
Lead the current Medical Affairs group at Alpine Immune Sciences and assure high quality execution of medical affairs activities, including those in both the therapeutic area and product medical strategy across both the US and ex-US.
Accountable for review and approval of Medical Affairs Strategic Imperatives and Tactics including all outputs of Medical Affairs such as data generation strategies, publications, IITs, and field-based strategies. Ensure that Medical Affairs resources and activities are appropriately focused to deliver on corporate goals and objectives.
Ensure strong collaboration and optimal resource utilization between internal Alpine teams.
Facilitate scientific engagement across a broad range of stakeholders to gather insights and dissemination of information.
Leverages clinical knowledge, industry relationships, and experiences to understand standards of care, unmet needs and how our portfolio and innovations can help address those unmet needs. Congress, symposium, key medical society, and one on one peer engagement are key components.
Responsible for optimizing Global Medical Affairs policies, processes, vendor selection and management, staffing, and budget.
Responsible for setting departmental objectives, developing, and tracking key activities and communicating to executive leadership status of objectives.
Integral member of the Senior Leadership Team at Alpine Immune Sciences.
Attract, develop, and manage core talent and build medical affairs skills to help create a diverse, high performing medical organization.
 
Qualifications:
 
MD, DO, with minimum of 15 years’ experience in biotech, pharma or related areas with at least 7 years of leadership experience.
Experience in Immunology is essential. Direct autoimmune industry experience specifically is preferred. 
Demonstrated success fostering close partnerships across functions (e.g., marketing, R&D, etc.) is required.
Domestic Travel of ~40% may be required. International travel may be asked.
Comprehensive knowledge of global medical affairs activities with in-depth knowledge of US, European and Asian requirements.
Experience in a pharmaceutical environment with strong knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory environment.
Proven track record in the areas of medical strategy, product launches, field based MSL team development, medical communications and thought leader engagement.

This position is a Vice President level position, with a compensation range of $280,000 - $360,000. Note that there is a strong preference for candidates to be located on the west coast.
