Altarum is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the growing FP&A team. The Financial Analyst will support budgeting and operational forecasting, strategic financial reporting at the Project and Division level, project profitability, staffing and other ad hoc analyses. This role will report to the Financial Analysis Manager and will closely interact with project managers and other Enterprise Leaders to provide analyses and insights related to financial trends for Altarum projects and all subsidiary companies.
Responsibilities
- Oversees a portfolio of projects supporting one or multiple business units within the enterprise.
- Provides monthly, quarterly and/or ad-hoc Estimate at Completion (EAC) analyses in support of multiple internal stakeholders.
- Performs in-depth analysis of financial data related to grants or government contracts, identifying trends and potential issues with spending patterns.
- Monitors and verifies allowable costs in accordance with grant or contract terms and conditions.
- Prepares project specific budgets during annual budgeting process following FP&A policies and procedures to ensure budgets are aligned with organizational goals. Assists with other requirements of FP&A group, as assigned.
- Reviews and updates monthly labor allocations across projects and business units. Meets monthly with project managers to review forecasts and assess needs for budget revisions.
- Follows established procedures for new project setup for files and financial management documents. Ensures work breakdown structure is aligned with current FP&A guidance and expectations.
- Works closely with Contracts department to ensure financial aspects of projects are aligned with contractual requirements.
- Provide estimating support in the development of Basis of Estimates to include pulling and validating actuals, ensuring consistency within task descriptions, validating calculations, and validating estimating approach is sound for accuracy and compliance.
- Participate on proposal teams as an Estimator supporting the preparation and assembly of cost proposals and internal and external audits.
- Develop pricing for proposal submissions by working closely with the contracts, business development, proposal manager, and technical team while adhering to proposal schedule deadlines.
- Prepare cost volumes describing specific estimating methodology to support price reasonableness and price realism.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related business discipline
- Must have at least five (5) years of related experience in budget, finance or accounting
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
- Experience working with multiple government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP, etc.)
- Knowledge of billing and revenue cycles
- Proven planning and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Experience developing ad-hoc financial reports and metrics
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, setting priorities and managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of efficiency and accuracy
- Flexible with the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other government regulations
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Project Planning tools or comparable accounting and reporting systems
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Word and editing PDFs
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio of projects supported by various types of funders: federal and state governments, foundations and/or private donors
