AmSty is a leading integrated producer of polystyrene and styrene monomer, offering solutions and services to customers in a variety of markets. Positioned as the one of the largest styrene and polystyrene producers in the Americas, AmSty brings unique competitive and technological advantages to its customers. Operating six (6) polystyrene plants across the geography with operations acquired from The Dow Chemical Company as well as Chevron Philips Chemical Company LP, AmSty is a joint venture which formed in 2008, equally owned by Trinseo LLC and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP
 
The Polystyrene Market Analyst is responsible for providing the polystyrene business with market analysis results to assist in the development of short and long term business strategies.  The Polystyrene Market Analyst will work closely with the Polystyrene Product Manager and support their efforts around competitive activity in polystyrene markets, analysis of alternative materials and their economic and market based impact on the polystyrene business, competitive threat analysis, import/export impact analysis, sustainability impact on business, and long term strategic planning.

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Competitive Material Market Analysis:
    • Maintain CMA database of competitive materials and feedstocks by world region
    • Analyze data for pricing and supply trends
    • Work with Product Manager to analyze trends and report forecast to commercial team

    • Import/Export Trade Flow Analysis:
    • Analyze import/export data of polystyrene resins
    • Analyze import/export data for competitive materials
    • Work with Product Manager to forecast effects on NA and LA markets

    • Development of Non Polyermeric competitive database:
    • Cost of conversion to non polymeric alternatives
    • Sustainability issues around these alternative materials

    • Sustainability impact analysis:
    • Analysis of impact of sustainability initiatives on polystyrene markets
    • Analysis of impact of sustainability intitative on alternative materials

    • Consultant Contact and Data Management:
    • Develop relationship with Consultants for polystyrene and competitive materials and feedstocks

    • Support Product Managers data and analysis requirements for strategic work on resin development and product portfolio management
    • Ad Hoc project analysis with defined goals and timing

Job Requirements:

    • 4-year University Degree is required - Business degree or strong business analysis experience
    • MBA a positive

    • Strong skills in utilization of spreadsheet and database management
    • Creation and maintenance of spreadsheet business models will be a critical requirement for the position
    • Advanced Excel functionality with Pivot table creation and management experience
    • -Management of Data from SAP to Excel for analysis

    • Strong Computer skills in MS Office and SAP 
    • Ability to work and communicate with intercompany groups to gather and share information and work processes
    • Ability to work directly with AmSty Account Managers to gather information for business data requirements
    • Strong presentation skills to efficiently and effectively communicate the results and recommendations resulting from financial and market analysis
    • Experience in Oil/Gas/Chemical industry is a plus
