A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking an SUE Field Technician I to join our Team in Rockville, MD and add significant value to our company growth. Position can also be located in our Washington, DC office.
Seeking candidate that has 1 or more years of experience as a SUE or private utility locating technician. Candidate will perform utility investigation, utility designating and utility test holes tasks on professional engineering project sites. This position will require competence in operating utility designating equipment. Utility test hole and VAC truck experience is a plus

Salary
$25-$40 per hour (DOE) with optional overtime
Company Truck - Direct travel from home to jobsite w/ occasional office check-ins
AMT has developed a reliable system of allowing field staff the ability to direct travel to and from the jobsite. This allows for a flexible work life balance while still accomplishing our project goals. Occasional office visits are used for project kickoffs and debriefs.

Responsibilties
- Perform utility investigation and utility marking of underground utilities
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints
- Use electromagnetic locating equipment to identify location of utilities
- Crew member of utility test hole air-vacuum excavation team
- Other duties assigned by management.
Required Experience
- 1 or more years in SUE and/or private utility locating experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions
- Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weights.
- Ability to work on an air-vacuum truck to perform test holes.
- Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility prints.
- Ability to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipment.
- Ability to coordinate with crew members on various jobs.
- Ability to work out-of-town on an as needed basis
- Candidate must have a good driving record
- Candidate must be able to pass background check for work on government facilities
