Job Description 

Summary/objective:

This position is responsible for overseeing all accounting personnel and accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of all accounting records, the management of controls sufficient to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of reported financial results, and the responsibility to ensure that the financial results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This position will also coordinate with our external auditors to ensure compliance with SEC reporting deadlines.

Essential functions

    • Oversee company financials to ensure accuracy and reliability to assist management in their responsibilities.
    • Prepare financial reports.
    • Analyze general ledger transactions and review their classifications to ensure correct coding.
    • Prepare entries for more complex transactions during the month.
    • Research and assist with documenting new accounting policies or updating existing ones.
    • Conduct internal audits as necessary; including an evaluation of proper accounting system controls.
    • Ensure royalty calculations are performed and  calculated correctly.  
    • Meet and communicate with outside professionals including attorneys, accountants, bankers, contractors, and other professionals as required.
    • Ensure Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Payroll  are recorded correctly each month.
    • Assist with system implementations to automate company processes as necessary.
    • Oversee and make sure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled at the end of each month.
    • Generate & maintain Excel/google spreadsheets.
    • Ensure A/P Department processes invoices correctly.
    • Must attend and contribute to regularly scheduled staff meetings.
    • Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in the English language required.

Competencies

    • Must be meticulous and have an extremely strong work ethic.
    • Must have prior managerial experience..
    • A motivated team player mentality who works well with little supervision.
    • A detail-oriented, hands -on person, with exceptional organizational skills. 
    • Advanced accounting skills with a strong analytical background are a must. 
    • Must also be customer service oriented with excellent telephone, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with Netsuite Accounting software a plus but not required.
    • Strong reconciliation work and experience with annual audit responsibilities.
    • Must participate in setting and achieving regularly scheduled and outlined objectives. 
    • Ability to take individual ownership, execute with high energy, share context, insist on candor with positive intent.

Required education and experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business and or Accounting (or the equivalent experience).
    • 3-7 years of relevant experience
    • CPA or equivalent experience

Preferred education and experience

    • Master’s degree in a related field
    • Big 4 accounting experience
    • 5+ years experience
Work environment - Working at the main office is expected, and can expect a comfortable, air-conditioned work environment. Team members are issued their own desks, but the office is an open, shared space and can be fast-paced and occasionally noisy.

Physical demands - Will need to be able to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time. 

Position type and expected hours of work - Regular full-time, 40 hours per week.

Travel required - Significant travel is not anticipated for this position, but must be willing and able to travel if business needs require it.

Work authorization - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
