About the role:
At AngelList, engineering teams are explicitly small, and built on mutual respect, high trust, and low overhead. It's not a fit for everyone, but when there's a fit, it’s one of the most rewarding places to work. This role is available for full-time remote work in the US or Internationally.
As a founding infrastructure engineer, you'll have a high amount of influence and freedom to design and build out our cloud infrastructure from first principles. We are looking for a software engineer who wants to dive deeper into the devops/infrastructure side of engineering.
You will:
- Architect, implement, and maintain the core cloud infrastructure used by our engineering team.
- Own the complete code deployment lifecycle.
- Work with the team to craft sustainable and scalable engineering practices.
- Debug complex production issues across the whole stack.
- Take responsibility for the code you own and improve our codebase with your presence.
You have:
- The ability to write high quality code in a programming language (e.g. Ruby, Javascript, Go).
- Deep expertise working with Kubernetes on AWS or GCP.
- Experience working with a Kubernetes service mesh like Istio.
- Strong command of infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi.
- Working knowledge of Rails to be comfortable making changes directly in our codebase.
- Experience maintaining continuous integration and deployment infrastructure for rapid iteration.
- A strong track record of launching projects with significant complexity and high levels of ambiguity.
- A strong sense of self-motivation and love working with a high level of ownership and responsibility.

AngelList has offices in three hub cities: San Francisco, Seattle, and New York City that you can choose to work from. We’re focused on hiring within these hubs and people within 1 hour travel distance of the hub offices are expected to come into the office twice per week. From time to time, we will make rare exceptions for new hires if they need to be fully remote.
