We are looking for a systems manager to join our growing transportation team!

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Serves as Lead Engineer.
    • Supports and briefs upper management on technical issues along with solutions.
    • Supports coordination and compatibility between engineering and construction management activities and facilitates resolution of conflicts.
    • Responds to internal and external engineering inquiries in the form of correspondence, RFI or submittals.
    • Analyzing state, federal, and local regulations to determine impact on project design and construction and implements solutions and modifications.
    • Oversees systems field staffing, training, and resource needs for construction management.
    • Represents owner at meetings and conferences, the community, public and private organizations, and other staff.
    • Supervises other Rail engineers within peripheral facets of rail systems integration. 

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of
    • Theories, principles, and practices of rail and bus transit engineering design, construction, commissioning operations, system integration and maintenance
    • Applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and standards
    • Engineering design principles of electrical rail transit equipment and systems
    • Federal, state, and local electrical codes
    • Public administration, finance, budgeting, and cost control
    • Multiple project direction and management
    • Skilled in:
    • Rail transit systems and electrical equipment
    • Overall Rail system integration
    • Reading and understanding diagrams and schematics.
    • Recognizing existing or potential mechanical defects and issues
    • Analyzing situations, identifying problems, recommending solutions, and evaluating outcomes
    • Exercising sound judgment and creativity in making decisions and in stressful situations
    • Communicating effectively orally and in writing
    • Interacting professionally with various levels of employees and consultants
    • Experience in Transit, Communications, Signaling and SCADA
    • Basic CAD/Bluebeam skills to assist with as-builts for the SCADA connections.
    • Experience in the field with communications system installation
    • Managing a team of engineers.

Required Qualifications & Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a related field OR experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a two-for-one-year basis
    • five years of relevant senior management-level experience managing rail transit projects or related public works capital projects; some positions in this class may require specialized experience in area of assignment; experience working with or for an operator of transit systems preferred.
    • 15 years Transit Systems professional engineering experience in design and construction of all types of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) for above ground and underground rail systems projects of a public transit agency in North America
    • Experience in 3rd Rail, OCS, OCR, traction power sub stations, train yards, rail communication, heavy and light rail systems.
    • Knowledge and experience working within an active rail yard
    • A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
    • California registration as a Professional Engineer or 10 years of equivalent experience
$150,000 - $230,000 a year
Salary is commensurate with relevant education, skills and project experience.
