Summary:

The Material Control Specialist is responsible for the coordination and communication of all information as it pertains to material and equipment to support Entergy’s Electric Distribution Grid Resiliency program.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Functions as the primary material coordinator, assure specification are review by design professionals, confirm material requisitions & orders, tracking orders, and a coordinating receipt, and inventory
    • Supervision, quality control and problem-solving
    •   Manage construction materials and fixtures on projects from inception through completion, including regular site visits, coordination of field personnel, reviewing the progress of subs, inspecting items and material prior to delivery and after installation, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety on site at all times.
    • Excellent project management skills; must have the ability to focus multiple work streams, consider impact on the project schedules while considering budgetary impacts.
    • Oversee the distribution and delivery from suppliers to contractors.
    • Confirm receiving by contractors; manage issues, staged material confirm inventory is secured 
    • Verifies items received comply with Purchase Order requirements.
    • Complete purchasing/procurement of short lead time materials.
    • Ensure that correct inspection has been performed for each type of material received
    • Manage material availability in accordance with published work schedules.
    • Coordinate and support for Client’s supply organization as directed.
    • Evaluating inventory and excess inventory.
    • Producing reports and summaries regarding inventory/stock levels.
    • Oversee project close-out – including removing materials and disposal debris as needed. 
    • Collect all manuals and warranty information and prepare to hand off to the client.
    • Return unused materials as needed to storage location or to place of original purchase

Education

    • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Purchasing, Materials Management, Business, Engineering, or related field with four (4) years related experience or eight (8) years equivalent experience with High School Diploma or GED. Equivalent work experience in Energy Delivery

Experience

    • Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, have a great work ethic, and possess a positive attitude.
    • Ability to read and understand some construction documents and specifications with knowledge of all phases of construction.
    • Possess excellent client service skills with the ability to create and foster relationships with clients, and others involved in the project construction.
    • Analyzes problems and able to make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.
    • Work effectively with others in team environments
    • See that projects are handled professionally, timely and safely – establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships among co-workers, partners, clients, contractors, and consultants

Soft Skills

    • Excellent working relationships with all levels of Management (internal/external).
    • Leading or being a core member of a project outside regular duties.
    • Knowledge and experience buying all commodities.
    • Shows initiative and willingness to pursue continued learning.
    • Strong analytical skills to evaluate inventory, demand, and purchases.
    • Ability to coach and mentor others.
    • Advanced Excel skills (V-Lookup, Pivot tables, Downloading SAP files and manipulating data in Excel).

Physical Skills

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Anser requirements
    • Must be able to travel to customer sites as needed
    • Must successfully complete a background investigation and drug screening

$125,000 - $145,000 a year
