We are seeking a Transportation Construction Manager for an opportunity in our Akron Ohio Transportation Division. The project manager will manage a team that are providing inspection and documentation activities for public transportation projects. Client services provided may include pre-construction services, construction administration, construction oversight, dispute resolution, documentation, public outreach and quality control.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Experience with ODOT and LPA funded projects.
    • Performs constructability reviews.
    • Assists with planning and administering preconstruction activities.
    • Monitors project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
    • Monitors project schedules to ensure on-time completion of construction.
    • Monitors construction activity in the field
    • Monitors project construction costs and budget
    • Responsible for tracking of daily project reports and quantities.
    • Responsible for preparation of project estimates
    • Manages hours for each task to ensure the amount allocated in the contract is not exceeded.
    • Responsible for safety of project staff and verification of necessary personal protective equipment.
    • Responsible for shop drawing logging, review and approval.
    • Communicates directly with project staff, clients, contractors, designers and public agencies.
    • Ability to manage more than one project simultaneously

Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent field/trade experience.
    • Experience working with ODOT and LPA Transportation projects.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Must be a self-starter that is reliable, responsive to client needs, professional, and the ability to maintain long-term relationships with clients and other construction related and business professionals and handle confidential information with discretion and trustworthiness
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication and superior active listening skills
    • Must be learning oriented, adaptable, and have a broad knowledge of project controls, project management, construction documentation and sequencing
    • Creative and advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to transfer prior experience to new projects
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel required. Some proficiency in other web-based project management tools strongly desired.
