The Team Lead – Gross Margin / Stock Ledger is responsible for all aspects of service delivery by the HBC India team in support of the company’s Margin reporting and Stock Ledger processes.  This role will be the day-to-day leader of the HBC India Cost Stock Ledger processing team, and must demonstrate a high degree of customer orientation to meet the needs of internal “customers / business partners” with the onshore Finance team, as well as other internal partners including Merchants,  Information Technology and banner Finance teams. The incumbent will be responsible effective management of the Stock Ledger team in India, including acting as an escalation point to resolve and correct any issues / concerns raised by the onshore Finance teams.
 
The position will provide management and oversight over the Gross Margin / Stock Ledger processing activities performed by HBC India including maintenance of the Cost Stock Ledger and Margin reporting & analysis.

Primary Role responsibilities include

    • Oversee team responsible for daily, monthly sales audit activities in a timely and efficient manner and in full compliance with HBC policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely auditing of sales and sufficient control over cash
    • Achieve daily processing targets
    • Ensure adherence to Sales Audit policies, internal control and audit requirements, and service standards at all times
    • Analyze and research all discrepancies/exceptions in the process
    • Effectively plan, prioritize and execute everyday floor operations
    • Consistently monitor key performance parameters of the process and identify and implement new ways to improve the quality of work as well as the means of working on processes
    • Interact with Internal / External auditors as required
    • Manage sales transaction backlog and expedite processing as required.  Work with onshore team to resolve issues impacting sales audit processing
    • Manage HBC India resources to support Gross Margin / Stock Ledger activities including:
    • Ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of Cost stock Ledger, including integration to the General Ledger / Financial Reporting
    • Provision of margin reporting to Merchants, Banner Finance and other key stakeholders
    • Consignment stock ledger accounting and reporting
    • Track control reports and ensure action is taken to resolve any discrepancies
    • Review margin reporting and identify any unusual results for investigation
    • Preparation and distribution of management reports in accordance with agreed timelines
    • Investigate and address any interface issues.
    • Perform GP calculation validation to confirm system accuracy.
    • Resolve escalated issues, as needed.
    • Ensure all period end entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and in accordance with the HBC close schedule

    • Strong financial aptitude with Min 10 years of work experience in Corporate Finance with MNCs/GICs, with preference to Retail industry focused on Gross Margin, Stock Ledger and Inventory functions
    • Min 5 years supervisory / people management experience
    • Experience in Oracle ERP (Oracle Fusion Preferred) and Stock Ledger / Gross Margin systems (Retek preferred)
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement methodology required  (Black belt preferred)
    • Demonstrated expertise in design and implementation of financial processes and technology
    • Demonstrated success in Leading and managing teams and directing multi-functional business units
    • Strong working experience in Sales Audit processes including involvement with the following:
    • Ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of Cost stock Ledger, including integration to the General Ledger / Financial Reporting
    • Gross Margin reporting & analysis to Merchants, Banner Finance and other key stakeholders
    • Preparation and distribution of management reports in accordance with agreed timelines

Professional Qualifications

    • Strong financial aptitude with Min 10 years of work experience in Corporate Finance with MNCs/GICs, with preference to Retail industry focused on Gross Margin, Stock Ledger and Inventory functions
