The Opportunity

You’ll lead the evolution of ANYbotics’s robotics architecture as our Head of Robotics Technology—with accountability spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, perception, power systems, and platform strategies. You’ll translate market needs into a modular, scalable technology roadmap, guiding decisions around chassis, subsystems, AI-driven perception, and beyond. By driving platformization and forging strategic partnerships, you will ensure our robotics platforms remain agile, reliable, and ahead of disruption.

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

As we embark on this exciting journey, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Lead to join our team and help us shape the future of robotic Locomotion.

Your Contributions

    • Define and drive a cohesive technology roadmap across mechanical, electrical, control, sensor, computing, and power domains
    • Lead modular architecture strategies in collaboration with System Architecture, ensuring reusable subsystems across product lines and ODDs
    • Scout and integrate emerging innovations (AI perception, actuation, energy systems) while ensuring safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance
    • Establish strategic partnerships with tech providers, integrators, research institutions, and startups to co-develop core technologies
    • Enforce architecture discipline operationally (e.g., ROS 2, interface standards, modular upgrades) to maintain fleet reliability
    • Oversee lifecycle strategies including secure updates, simulation-based validation, CI/CD pipelines, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
    • Manage resource allocation and deliver technology roadmap updates, tracking milestones, risks, and budget usage
    • Guide enterprise systems integration, enforcing secure firmware, safety-first mechanisms, and alignment with approval processes
    • Cultivate a culture of modularity, engineering rigor, continuous improvement, safety, and security across the team

Your Profile

    • 10–15+ years in engineering, R&D, or technology leadership within robotics or mechatronics-intensive industrial environments
    • Deep expertise in robotics, autonomous systems, and mechatronics integration, with demonstrated success defining and executing platform strategies
    • Strong systems engineering and software architecture background, capable of aligning technology with market and business strategy
    • Proven track record in modular, scalable robotics architectures and cross-functional system-level leadership (mechanical, electrical, control, perception, AI)
    • Experience in technology governance, lifecycle management, CI/CD adoption, and building high-performing, cross-disciplinary R&D teams
    • Skilled in partnering with external stakeholders—suppliers, integrators, research organizations—to co-develop and accelerate technology
    • Balanced leadership style: visionary strategic thinker with operational discipline, and able to report effectively to executive teams
    • Committed to fostering culture around safety, security, and continuous innovation

Bonus Points

    • Experience with ROS 2, robotics middleware, and simulation frameworks
    • Background in energy systems or power management relevant to autonomous robotics
    • Proven success building secure firmware, signed updates, or similar safety-critical systems
    • Prior experience within agile, high-growth robotics environments
