The Opportunity
As a Release Automation Engineer, you will be joining a team focused on streamlining and enhancing our release processes for robot software, Workforce Field Operator, and Data Navigator web applications. You will be instrumental in enabling agile continuous releases, ensuring robust continuous testing of our robots and system, and collaborating closely with quality automation engineers to improve overall reliability. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver fast, safe, and scalable software to our cutting-edge robotic platforms.

Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

Your Contributions
- Lead and optimize software and system release processes, including versioning, QA coordination, and automation.
- Design and implement CI/CD tooling to automate testing, documentation, and deployment across complex, hardware-integrated systems.
- Develop and maintain robust delivery pipelines for robot software and web applications.
- Define and enforce sign-off workflows, safety gates, and repository policies to ensure structured and repeatable releases.
- Facilitate release readiness across product, software, QA, systems, and operations teams.
- Collaborate with quality automation engineers to continuously improve system reliability and test coverage.
- Be an example to the company for the feasibility of well-executed remote work.
Your Profile
- Engineering or science degree with a focus on computer science, electrical engineering or robotics
- You have succeeded in building infrastructure to support fast, safe, and scalable software development in robotics-like environments, with a proven track record designing automation pipelines, test frameworks, and release workflows across complex, hardware-integrated systems.
- Excellent proficiency in Python and experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Gitlab Pipelines).
- Strong focus on developer enablement, integration stability, and cross-team coordination.
- Strong in self-coordination, able to structure your work independently and deliver results
- Good understanding of diagnostics and stakeholder communication.
- Interested in working with select external partners and learning from users (in the field)
- Willing to travel ca. 2-3 weeks per year to co-locate with ANYbotics team members and users
Bonus Points
- Experience with OTA delivery pipelines and automated reporting using APIs (e.g., GitHub, Jira, Zephyr, Slack, Snowflake).
- Experience with configuration management and release governance in a complex system environment.
