The Opportunity
We are looking for a 6-months intern or working student to join our development #Ateam as of September 2024. In this internship you will be joining a team of experienced software engineers which shape the future of ANYmal’s software architecture. In this project, you will help implement changes at the core of ANYmal’s software stack which significantly increase the robustness, performance, and developer friendliness of the system. To successfully perform the migration of the software stack and implement this vision you will use and continuously improve AI-based as well as conventional migration automation tools.

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics electrical hardware.

Your Contributions
- Help build the software architecture of the future
- Apply and continuously improve automation tools to migrate software
- Be an example for solution-oriented and pragmatic decision making
- Solve problems within a project team with a proactive and communicative approach
Your Profile
- Pursuing an engineering or science degree with a focus on computer science, electrical engineering or robotics
- Strong in self-coordination, able to structure your work independently and deliver results
- Good in C++/CMake and/or Python
- Good in Git and Docker
- Interested in working with Kubernetes
- Interested in working hands-on with ANYmal in our local testing facilities
Bonus Points
- Experience with ROS1 and/or ROS2
- Experience with Automation, Refactoring, AI
Please note that we are only able to consider applications from Schengen-Area citizens (or any student enrolled at ETH and EPFL who require compulsory internship). For residents outside of Switzerland, you will have to find your own accommodation in order to apply for the L or B work permit.
