About this role:

Help build the systems and tooling powering our corporate infrastructure! As the first member of our corporate engineering team, you will help provide infrastructure services and solutions to internal teams. This will involve building services and solutions that provide infrastructure, automation, self-service, and observability to support the scaling of our business.

As the first member of this team, we are looking for someone who can build solutions and design processes from scratch and work effectively across the organization to improve the security and productivity of our teams (one example: self-service laptop provisioning tools).

You might think of Corporate Engineering as an IT group, but at Anyscale it’s not your typical IT function! You will get to be part of building a first-class product/engineering function, focused on maximizing beneficial outcomes rather than constraining costs. In other words, an IT that is awesome and not just a ticket-closing workshop.

As part of this role, you will:

    • Build the systems and tools powering our corporate infrastructure
    • Lay the groundwork and processes for growing the corporate engineering team
    • Design corporate infrastructure management and security best practices
    • Provide infrastructure, automation, self-service, and observability to support the scaling of our business
    • Develop, deploy, and support internal business applications

We'd love to hear from you if you:

    • Are strong software engineer
    • Can thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
    • Are a strong written and verbal communicator
    • Can effectively partner with other teams and departments to understand the challenges they face and how you can work together to improve our systems, tooling, and processes
    • Can operate both tactically and strategically
    • Are low ego and seek constructive feedback from others to continue to improve yourself
    • Are familiar with systems engineering, cloud providers, SaaS management at scale, and endpoint management
About Anyscale:
Anyscale provides an application development platform for developers to build distributed applications. We’re commercializing a popular open source project called Ray, which is a framework for distributed computing as well as an ecosystem of libraries for scalable machine learning. Our goal is to build a standardized platform for distributed computing. Ray was developed at UC Berkeley by Robert Nishihara and Philipp Moritz, under the guidance of Ion Stoica and Michael Jordan, and the four of them have co-founded Anyscale. The company raised a $20.6M Series A and a $40M Series B funding from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), NEA, Foundation Capital, Intel Capital, Ant Financial, Amplify Partners, 11.2 Capital, and The House Fund.

With Ray, we're making it easy to program at any scale (from your laptop to the datacenter) by providing easy-to-use, general-purpose, and high-performance tools. In addition, we are building a rich ecosystem of libraries (for reinforcement learning, hyperparameter search, experiment management, machine learning training, prediction serving, and more) on top of the core distributed system so that users can rapidly build sophisticated applications. Help us build the future of software development.
