Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Experience Designer who excels at pushing the boundaries of creativity across a diverse range of UI/UX design projects. This role will participate in all phases of the design process, including conceptual design/development, user journey flows, interface design, prototyping, user testing, and production. More specifically, the designer will focus on converting free users to paid users through onboarding and monetization events during the free experience. They will work closely with key stakeholders to establish and maintain visual integrity, interaction methods, brand standards, and holistic consistency for our products and customer experience, while collaborating with the wider marketing team on design execution.

Responsibilities:

    • User Onboarding for the new ABCmouse: Design and optimize onboarding experiences for our freemium app users, ensuring a seamless introduction to our products.
    • Freemium App Experience: Leverage foundational experience in freemium app models to enhance user engagement and retention during the onboarding phase.
    • Customer Pain Points: Identify and address customer pain points throughout the user journey, implementing solutions to enhance overall satisfaction.
    • Conversion Optimization: Develop strategies to convert free users to paid subscribers, utilizing data-driven insights and user behavior analysis.
    • Monetization Events: Design and implement monetization events within the free experience, ensuring they are user-friendly and aligned with our educational mission (e.g., unlocking/opening access to content through paywalls).

    • Additionally, Age of Learning is embarking on a major brand refresh. The Senior Experience Designer will contribute to establishing and refining the new brand identity across various digital and marketing experiences, ensuring seamless integration across user journeys, marketing materials, and digital platforms.
    •  Create concepts, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to define, present, and iterate on UX and UI designs.
    • Develop style guides and mood boards; guide and systematize visual design features.
    • Design engaging and effective marketing materials, including digital ads, social media graphics, and email campaigns.
    • Design scalable UI assets in Figma, and adhere to and help develop a design system.
    • Create and manage the marketing creative UI toolkit.
    • Observe and learn from user behavior, and utilize behavioral data to generate practical insights.
    • Understand and incorporate the needs and preferences of our audience into the development of the user experience.
    • Collaborate with the Monetization team to understand project objectives, target audience, and brand guidelines.
    • Proactively collaborate across teams to uphold a unified user experience and consistent visual identity as new projects are developed.
    • Act as a UX expert and advisor to the team on principles, standards, and best practices.
    • Communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions effectively to teams and stakeholders; incorporate feedback to refine designs.
    • Understand technical and business requirements; strive to deliver intuitive and user-centered solutions.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, design tools, and best practices.
    • Collaborate with technical artists to deliver production-ready Rive files, including configuration for localization, data-driven content, and dynamic layouts.
    • Familiarity with localization systems and delivering content for localized products is a plus.
    • Comfortable working with A/B testing to evaluate design effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or a related area (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
    • 6+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design, ideally working on consumer-facing mobile or web apps.
    • Strong background in freemium product design, with a focus on converting free users to paid subscribers in a way that feels user-first and value-driven.
    • Proven success designing and optimizing onboarding flows through monetization.
    • Deep understanding of user behavior and what drives engagement across freemium experiences.
    • Strong skills in Figma — comfortable working in both low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity mockups.
    • Ability to translate data and research into actionable design improvements.
    • Clear communicator who can share ideas, get buy-in, and collaborate with marketing, product, and engineering teams.
    • Comfortable taking ownership of the full user journey — not just designing polished screens, but solving real problems.
    • Direct experience working with educational or children’s apps is a big plus.
    • Experience implementing designs in Rive, or similar technical frameworks like Unity or Unreal, is a plus.
