Apple Tree Dental is currently seeking a qualified Chief Financial Officer. We are a long-standing non-profit organization whose mission is to overcome barriers to oral health. We operate throughout the State of Minnesota and provide services to thousands of patients.
Purpose of Position
- The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial functions of the organization.
- This includes financial planning and strategy, financial reporting, risk management, capital management and compliance.
- The CFO provides strategic guidance to the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure the financial stability and growth of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in a CFO or similar role, or 10 to 15 years of job-related experience.
- 5+ years preferably in a nonprofit setting
- Previous experience with insurance and legal
Job Duties
- Participate actively on Executive Committee
- Voting Member of 401(k) Committee
- Finance
- Direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal functions and performance
- Supervise Finance Manager, Billing Department and Credentialing Specialist/Payroll Administrator
- Evaluate the finance area structure, ensuring continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintaining 501(c)(3) status
- Banking
- Maintain banking relationships and related accounts
- Negotiate financing and line of credit
- Negotiate all major leases
- Report on PRI loans
- Cash Flow
- Monitor cash flow, and control cash
- Approve capital purchases and major expenditures
- Approve unusual payroll expenditures and offer letters
- Develop and enforce written financial policies
- Accounting
- Review general ledger, making needed adjustments, and close fiscal months/years
- Reconciliation of major bank accounts and loans
- Entry of selected vendor invoices
- Maintain LeaseCrunch software (lease amortization tracking)
- Budgeting
- Approve all grant budgets, track grant expenditures and related reporting
- Coordinate budget development
- Create compensation, fixed assets and major expenses budget
- Reporting
- Provide accurate analysis, trends and financial reporting
- Perform cost accounting and financial analysis
- Manage annual financial audits and Form 990 preparation
- Assist with annual 401(k) and work comp audits
- Census Bureau reporting
- Calculate and report incentive program results
- Maintain Affordable Plan (sliding scale plan)
- Maintain employer tax accounts in all relevant states
- Maintain and apply for property tax exemptions
- Coordinate financial aspects of capital projects
- Maintain adequate insurance on all exposures; coordinate insurance claims
- Determine employee benefits package and contribution rates in conjunction with HR Director
- Legal
- Liaise with company attorney(s)
- Review contracts; approve contracts; maintain contract files
- Maintain good standing with Attorney General’s Office, Board of Dentistry, and Secretary of State
- Corporate
- Attend all Board of Director meetings
- Call meetings of the Finance Committee
- Review of board meeting agendas and minutes for accuracy
- Participate in the development of strategic plans
- Provide backup to Secretary of the Board
- Other duties as assigned
$130,000 - $145,000 a year
