Currently, our Platform Engineering Team (former Infrastructure Engineering Team) is evolving to redefine project value. This team supports all aspects of Appsilon’s other business areas and is an independent business area on its own.

Your Goals:

    • Leading and overseeing diverse client projects, ensuring successful delivery across multiple products and platforms.
    • Managing and mentoring a team of up to 2 Platform Engineers for now.
    • Engaging in technical consultations, providing expert advice and solutions tailored to client needs.
    • Designing and implementing scalable and reliable cloud platform solutions (in AWS, Azure).
    • Developing, maintaining, and optimizing automation processes (CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, amongst others).
    • Collaborating with sales and marketing teams to support the growth of the platform area of business.
    • Ensuring high levels of client satisfaction through effective project management and communication.
    • Sporadically helping the team or customer in on-call mode (e.g., during the release) or in non-standard hours (customers are in different time zones).
    • Working within an Agile/Scrum framework, promoting efficient and collaborative team dynamics.

Must have:

    • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a platform or infrastructure engineering role, demonstrating proficiency in managing complex infrastructure environments.
    • Expertise in cloud services like AWS and Azure, along with a strong command of Infrastructure as Code practices (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
    • Proven experience and enthusiasm for remote work, aligning well with remote-first working culture, to be assessed through a thoughtful discussion on the phone screening call.
    • Solid knowledge of Linux, adept in shell scripting, and a good understanding of networking, including DNS, VPN, TCP/IP, and firewalls.
    • Experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Excellent project management skills, demonstrating the ability to concurrently manage multiple projects and priorities.
    • A proactive and driven personality, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement and a problem-solving mindset.
    • Fluent in English, with solid communication skills tailored for a client-facing role, ensuring effective and articulate interactions.
    • Proven experience in client-facing roles, illustrating a track record of taking responsibility for initiatives and delivering client-focused solutions.
    • Programming experience with at least one language
    • Valid Passport outside of the EU and/or valid ID within the EU
    • Previous experience in a consultancy environment



    • Nice to Have:
    • Experience managing and operating internal developer platforms
    • AWS or Azure certifications
    • Experience with Posit, Spark, or Workflow Orchestration Technologies
    • Any project management certification
    • Data engineering experience
    • Experience with R

Within 3 Months You’ll..

    • Take over existing projects
    • Engage in your first new client project
    • Lead projects with support from the Team Lead
    • Make crucial decisions on internal infrastructure at Appsilon
    • Directly manage your first internal contributor.

Within 6 Months You’ll…

    • Contribute to shaping team standards.
    • Run experiments with new technologies
    • Initiate sales-engineering processes and manage projects end-to-end
    • Work independently on projects, consulting as an SME
    • Deliver projects independently and report progress
    • Evaluate and plan strategic steps for business development
    • Take initial steps in shaping the team's operational approach
