As the Sustainability Analyst, you are the data guru for environmental and social work at Arc’teryx. You provide data-driven decision tools to enable our Product, Supply Chain, and Community teams to make informed decisions. You are a partner and a resource to teams across the company, bringing clarity and insight to make our sustainability efforts more effective.  

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

    • Working with the sustainability team, you deliver effective metrics for progress on our strategic plan
    • You partner with the Design, Materials, and R&D teams to measure the environmental impacts associated with potential design and material decisions
    • You coordinate the collection of our annual enterprise carbon footprint
    • You prioritize actions and investments to reducing our company carbon footprint
    • You lead our use of the Higg Index product tools (MSI and DDM) to drive the uptake of lower impact, high confidence alternatives
    • You partner with our supply chain team and sourcing organization to assess the highest impacts at our core suppliers
    • Working with the Supply Chain Sustainability Lead, you assess opportunities for impact reduction at supply chain partners based on Higg Facilities Environmental Module reporting
    • You partner with the Social Impact Lead to develop measurement approaches for our community programs
    • You work with the Business Intelligence team to be a partner to their Data Driven initiative, learning to use the core BI toolkit to access relevant business metrics and apply them to sustainability initiatives

Additional experience, education, and/or skills (required):

    • You have an Undergraduate Degree in natural sciences, environmental sciences or engineering
    • You have 1-3 years of relevant work experience
    • You have strong capabilities for translating complex technical topics into actionable information and insight for comprehension by broad audiences
    • You have previous experience in data and scenario modeling
    • You have expertise with data visualization techniques
    • You have excellent Excel skills
    • You have a willingness to prototype and learn by doing
    • You are driven by curiosity and learning about the needs of a range of business partners
    • You have a passion for working cross-functionally
    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, with an unwavering commitment to seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions
    • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity

Additional experience, education, and/or skills (assets):

    • You have completed graduate studies in sustainability, environmental sciences, or other relevant domain
    • You have knowledge or experience in Life Cycle Assessment
    • You have a knowledge of greenhouse gas metrics and reporting standards (i.e. GHG Protocol)
