As a Maintenance Technician, you are responsible to provide machine and tooling support on all manufacturing and distribution equipment to ensure highest possible uptime and minimize impact of machine downtime on production. You will take the upmost care in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and validation of machines and equipment. As a technician you will be a leader in facilitating knowledge sharing and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.  Your responsibilities encompass not only providing technical support but also actively collaborating with leadership to implement innovative ideas and strategies that enhance team performance and allow for operation excellence. You will have the opportunity to continuously learn on the job as manufacturing and distribution teams introduce future technologies and automation processes.

Meet Your Future Team:
 
You will work under the Maintenance Supervisor, collaborating with other maintenance technicians and mechanics to ensure regular inspections, repairs, and maintenance of machinery for optimal uptime and availability.  Additionally, you will play a crucial role in installing new equipment as Arc’teryx operations continue to evolve and expand at a rapid pace.

If you were the Maintenance Technician, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

    • Support and maintain world class distribution automation equipment in a high throughput environment
    • Accountable for installation service, repair and maintenance of equipment and machinery – including automated equipment that optimize operation efficiency
    • Develop expertise and gain experience working with technical garment manufacturing equipment and automated distribution equipment
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team and cross-functional partners to proactively identify opportunities to optimize machinery performance and evolve techniques in installation, maintenance and calibration
    • Foster a learning environment, provide guidance, and proactively identify process enhancements to improve overall operations
    • Lead or support other projects and initiatives within the maintenance department – with the current focus being on the installation of a world-class automated distribution system.  Including the setup of repair, maintenance, and incident response systems to support operations.

    • Procure necessary equipment and tools to support the facility’s growth as a cutting-edge factory, with opportunities for exciting future project-based work as the company grows and expands
    • Leading aspects of future distribution center automation projects
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Health & Safety teams to share technical knowledge and drive safety initiatives for process improvements
    • Provide mentorship and support to the Maintenance team, driving Arc’teryx's future success and growth opportunities.

Additional experience, education and/or skills required:

    • Trade Certificate in Automation, Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation, or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
    • 1-3 years of Journeyman experience in related field with a strong emphasis on coaching and mentoring
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders
    • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar technical role, showcasing hands-on expertise in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and common troubleshooting techniques, with a commitment to safety and quality standards
    • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyze problems, and devise effective solutions with keen attention to detail
    • Experience working within a CMMS platform
    • CMC and Autostore (or similar) experience an asset but not required
$37 - $46 an hour
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$37.00 hourly - CAD$46.00 hourly at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
