As aPerformance Validation Manager,Advanced Concepts, you lead the performance validation strategy and function, creating consistent testing protocols, data assessment and reporting approaches, across all Advanced Concepts (AC) projects. In this role, you leverage athlete data in the field, from the mountains to the trail, and bring your findings back to the AC team to dissect. You bring a sports science skillset and applied research approach to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of forward-thinking researchers, engineers and designers to deliver tangible solutions for the mountain athlete everywhere.   

This role is primarily based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Performance Validation Manager, Advanced Concepts role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

    • Building, executing and managing the performance validation program for the AC team 
    • Building and implementing representative and repeatable testing protocols, data assessment and reporting into all AC projects; ensuring continuity of objectives through all levels of testing (wear testing, athlete testing, lab testing and materials testing) 
    • Managing and executing applied athlete research and product performance validation in the mountains and the lab, across climb, snow and trail activities Partnering with a team of researchers and engineers on technical problems, providing and receiving critical peer feedback 
    • Recruiting and managing an active pool of mountain athletes across regional and global environments, for both field and lab activities  
    • Developing new research approaches, tools (hardware and software systems) and methods to conduct research and validation, in the mountains and lab 
    • Building and managing a strong network of scientific partners (academic, start-ups, industry) who can execute applied research at a cadence that evolves and accelerates product innovation 
    • Inspiring the AC and Creative teams by providing knowledge and access to research in the areas of biomechanics, physiology and perception 
    • Collaborating with cross-functional partners and leaders to ensure clear communication and understanding of scientific principles and test results 
    • Partnering with the Innovation Operations team on research and engineering specific resourcing opportunities, including funding, academic and internship programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth) 
    • Driving key initiatives to support the future of Arc’teryx, with a focus on product circularity 
    • Ensuring you and your team maintain current industry technology, product innovation, research literature and equipment knowledge through education and hands-on experience

Are you our next Performance Validation Manager, Advanced Concepts?

    • You have a master’s degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Engineering or a combination of relevant education, experience and training 
    • You have 7+ years of technical apparel and/or equipment experience in research, performance validation, and product innovation 
    • You have 2+ years of proven experience, managing performance validation and/or research programs 
    • You have experience with traditional and modern tools used to collect performance validation data (biomechanical, physiological, perceptive) both in the lab and in the field 
    • You have hands-on experience working with human test subjects and/or athletes  
    • You are excited about conducting both experimental research and product performance validation 
    • You have an expert understanding of human anatomy and biomechanical principles, and experience applying this knowledge to product innovation 
    • You have strong experience in experimental design, statistical procedures and data analysis  
    • You have exceptional communication and presentation skills, including a proven ability to communicate findings to both scientists and nonscientists  
    • You have experience identifying, creating and protecting a brand IP portfolio, with internal and external legal teams 
    • You have a strong ability to build a mindset and culture of innovation  
    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right 
    • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity 
    • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD $106,000 - CAD $146,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
