As a Commercialization Specialist, you are responsible for managing products from design approval through to production readiness, supporting our ability to deliver on time and providing an exceptional consumer experience.  Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development and commercialization ensures that each product you work on meets Arc'teryx design intent, supply chain requirements and contributes to our ability to scale in a skilled capable manufacturing base.

The Commercialization Specialists are passionate about transitioning product from creation to a scalable buy ready state.  We partner closely with our vendors to ensure products meet product development, cost and quality expectations while supporting our sourcing strategies.  We achieve this by building strong cross functional relationships within Product Creation Development and additional functional Supply Chain partners, as well as the Design and Merchandising teams.

If you were the Commercialization Specialist now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

    • Owning the development and commercialization of product as we transition to manufacturing from product creation development approval through to bulk readiness, ensuring product is delivered on time in full
    • Consistently achieving product design intent through collaboration with Product Creation Development, Design, and Supply Chain (Sourcing, Costing, Compliance and Quality) departments
    • Working directly with global vendors, as well as Arc’teryx’s own factory, to accurately communicate model requirements, buy ready and production ready specifications, approved reference samples and patterns to meet established fit, quality and construction standards
    • Collaborating with global and own factory base to provide manufacturing input to our Product teams that will improve scalability, efficiency and enable quality in our manufacturing base
    • Transforming the Product Creation Development tech pack information into an accurate database of Bill of Materials (BOM) information that will result in efficient raw material sourcing and purchasing which then enables the vendors to accurately produce finished product on time, in full at cost
    • Executing to calendar deliverables, including but not limited to development protos, pre-production and size run samples, raw material and finished goods validation, costing, compliance testing, quality evaluation and approval requirements with key stakeholders
    • In partnership with Sourcing and Costing, support ownership in achieving product cost estimates and vendor cost negotiations to meet and/or exceed target FOB/margins for new product
    • Ownership and management of seasonal carryovers, as well as supporting Supply Chain with regards to cost and quality providing teams (inclusive of Product Development and Colour) visibility and ensuring inflation targets and seasonal updates are met
    • Managing inline product updates, including but not limited to factory transitions, duel sourced, material changes, and compliance changes
    • Contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards in conjunction with the Quality team
    • Supporting Sourcing & Quality in the training of new factory resources and ensuring that Arc’teryx brand standards are met
    • Identifying gaps and opportunities, working with Product Creation Development, Sourcing, Costing and Quality to drive process improvement with a lean forward attitude to drive evolution within the design to manufacturing process
    • Travelling, as needed, to support the business expectations

Are you our next Commercialization Specialist?

    • You have 3+ years’ experience in product development (developing product/process) with a focus on technical, innovative apparel and equipment
    • You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certifications, or related business experience
    • You have experience effectively communicating with, and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
    • You have experience in product costing and negotiation skills
    • You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit
    • You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
    • You are able to travel globally, as needed, to support the business expectations
    • You have a strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
    • You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
    • You demonstrate initiative, agility and commitment
    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
    • You are goal driven with a results-oriented attitude
    • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
