Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:As a Pattern Maker / Developer 2, you are responsible for managing a product from concept through to production readiness, including pattern development. Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development ensures that each product you work on meets Arc’teryx design intent and supply chain requirements.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-location.

You will be part of a focused team of product developers, pattern makers, designers and cut and sew team that works on creating innovative product. This team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.
If you were in the Pattern Maker / Developer 2 role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
- Executing the development of product, including interpreting design intent, patterning, and coordinating prototype and sample creation, from concept through to commercialization
- Compiling all product materials/construction information, and maintain accurate pattern libraries and bill of materials (BOM) information, resulting in efficient raw material sourcing/purchasing and accurately produced finished product
- Supporting and influencing the development process to achieve commercial viability of designs through collaboration with Design, Materials Development, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production, and Quality teams.
- Supporting and contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards in conjunction with the QA team
- Partnering and collaborating with Designers to establish and document product construction standards and illustrated technical specifications for all products
- Maintaining computer pattern libraries by ensuring changes are clearly communicated to Graders and Marker Makers
- Ensuring development and product creation deadlines are met through providing regular reporting on prototype and sample progress
- Building strong partnerships, effectively communicating with Designers, Sample Sewers, Product Developers, and factory partners
- Contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards, and supporting the rollout and training of new factory resources, ensuring that Arc'teryx brand standards are met
- Working in conjunction with the Design, Merchandising, and Marketing teams to ensure all external product communication accurately reflects model requirements and specifications
- Supporting and contributing to CLO3D modeling as required
- Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

- Supporting on special projects, such as Direct To Market
- Providing feedback and input towards improving tech pack and development processes
- Supporting the factories by training and enabling a better understanding of Arc’teryx standards and methods
Are you our next Pattern Maker / Developer 2?
- You have 3+ years’ experience in product development and pattern making, with a focus on technical, innovative apparel and equipment, with a strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
- You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
- You are proficient in Microsoft Office
- You have an understanding of patterning programs
- You have the ability to work from pattern blocks and/or from sketches
- You have experience effectively communicating with and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
- You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production, and fit
- You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
- You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
- You demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and develop the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do right
- You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
- You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement

$80,000 - $100,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD $80,000 - CAD $100,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
