RTI Coordinator (2019-2020)

ARISE Academy is a K-8 charter school located in the 9th Ward of New Orleans that proudly serves over 500 students, the majority of which come from the surrounding area. Report to: The School Director

Develop and Implement Tier 2 Academic and Behavioral Interventions

    • Uses data to identify and group scholars needing additional supports academically and behaviorally
    • With leaders and teachers develops and implements developmentally appropriate interventions for individuals and groups of scholars 
    • Supports leaders, teachers, and deans in documenting academic and behavioral progress 
    • Facilitates the SBLC process 
    • Models and uses Tier 2 instructional and behavioral curriculum and support tools

Develop and Implement Tier 3 Academic and Behavioral Interventions

    • Uses data to identify and group scholars needing additional supports academically and behaviorally
    • Works with the Director of Special Education, School Leaders, School Psychologists, and coaches to facilitate eligibility for special education.
    • Implements PBIS with the support of the Deans of Culture
    • Coaches Deans in the implementation of research-based best discipline practices
    • Coaches RTI staff in the implementation of research-based best instructional practices
    • Models and uses Tier 3 instructional and behavioral curriculum and support tools

School-level support

    • Partners with school leadership and teachers
    • Communicates with students, staff, and community
    • Facilitates teacher/leader professional development across ARISE Schools
    • Demonstrates sensitivity to teachers’ individual differences and cultural backgrounds
    • Allocates time and resources effectively
    • Respects confidentiality 
    • Able to create and implement systems for RTI: referral methods, data collection and storage
    • Oversees data collection and progress monitoring at every tier
    • Creates and modifies resources for intervention 
    • Sets priorities and follows through on goals and deadlines


    • At least five (5) years of experience
    • Experience leading and coaching large, complex teams with multiple departments
    • Proven, demonstrated achievement in the areas of Leadership Management; Scholar and Family Culture; Staff Culture; Planning and Preparation for Learning; Professional Development, Observation, and Feedback; and Data Driven Instruction.
    • Advanced communication and professional skills, and a willingness to learn school administrative programs
    • This position requires someone who is flexible, a team player, and easily adapts to new/challenging situations.
    • Bachelor’s Degree – Required
    • Master’s in Education – Recommended

Physical Requirements

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. 
    • Light lifting of equipment may be required (up to 20 lbs.)
