Our manufacturing and co-packing client is seeking an Industrial Engineer II to join their team in Bensenville, IL. This is a direct hire position.

This position is under direct management of the Engineering Manager. The Industrial Engineer II will identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiencies, reduce labor costs, reduce waste, and maximize the utilization of equipment and space within Operations. The Industrial Engineer II will also lead capital expenditure projects and the installation of new co-packing lines from design phase through production startup while maintaining the project budget and ensuring that KPI’s and safety requirements are met.

Responsibilities

    • Manage capital expenditure projects with the ability to develop and maintain budgets, collaborate and lead a cross functional team, and calculate Return on Investments (ROI) through work sampling and cost/benefit analyses
    • Manage new production line installations by developing a process and line layout using AutoCAD, sourcing new or used equipment, and leading a cross functional team to ensure production lines start up on time and meet all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and human and food safety standards
    • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Industrial Engineering and Lean Six Sigma tools to drive a culture of continuous improvement
    • Support the Operations team with new and existing co-packing and manufacturing products through work study, data analyses, parts design, or the procurement of new equipment and tooling

Additional Responsibilities

    • Maintain and update all facility layouts in AutoCAD
    • Work closely with the Warehouse and Production Management teams to improve material flow, safety, and storage capacity throughout CW facilities
    • Provide equipment, tooling, and facilities modifications cost estimates required for new products and production lines
    • Apply working knowledge of Industrial Engineering tools such as time studies and line balancing to determine production line rates and labor requirements
    • Help develop and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), engineering specifications, and work instructions when required
    • Conduct feasibility studies on packaging processes to estimate product cost, capital requirements, capacity, and capability
    • Provide guidance and effectively train engineering processes to other Industrial Engineer I’s and engineering interns when required
    • Work closely with the Safety Manager to ensure new and existing equipment comply with CW safety standards
    • Identify and report any observed safety or ergonomic risks within any aspect of the business

Requirements

    • 4 years minimum of work experience applying Industrial Engineering tools and methodologies
    • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in the Engineering / Technology Field from an accredited College or University
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification; Black Belt preferred
    • Excellent MS Office proficiency with an emphasis on MS Excel; MS Project, MS Access, and MS Visio a plus
    • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD; Solidworks a plus
    • Ability to lead a cross-functional team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical persons
    • Strong analytical skills required
    • Strong time management skills required
    • Must be self-motivated with high degree of initiative
