What We Need:

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial Editor-in-Chief to own the end-to-end publishing pipeline, including content creation, editorial excellence, sales, distribution, and multimedia monetization for a series of performance-oriented books, masterclasses, and audiobooks. You’ll set the editorial vision, build revenue streams, and ensure every title becomes a multi-format, multi-channel commercial success.

This role goes far beyond editing. It requires a commercial mindset, marketing acumen, and an obsession with building a brand that commands category leadership. You will not only steward high-quality content but also drive market traction through Amazon optimization, search marketing, special markets, and direct-to-consumer sales.

What You’ll Do:

    • Editorial & Content Leadership
    • Define editorial standards, voice, and style across books, newsletters, workbooks, masterclasses, and audiobooks.
    • Edit and approve manuscripts with zero-defect precision, structuring content for maximum clarity and impact.
    • Lead a cross-functional team of writers, subject-matter experts, editors, narrators, proofreaders, and designers.
    • Incorporate AI-generated drafts and tools to accelerate quality and throughput.
    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative content ideas that reinforce Arootah’s brand and thought leadership.
    • Oversee the editorial production, sales strategy, and distribution of current and future titles.

    • Sales, Distribution & Revenue Growth
    • Create and execute go-to-market plans across print, e-book, audiobook, direct-to-consumer, retail, and institutional channels.
    • Oversee Amazon sales and marketing strategy including ads configuration, ongoing performance analysis, and campaign optimization.
    • Develop compelling product descriptions, A+ content, and metadata to maximize visibility and conversion on Amazon and other platforms.
    • Conduct keyword research and category tracking to inform positioning and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Build relationships with typesetters, printers, wholesalers, corporate buyers, and distribution partners.
    • Construct a special markets sales program targeting corporate bulk buyers and strategic partners, potentially including a dedicated sales force.
    • Explore extended distribution channels to diversify revenue beyond traditional publishing outlets.
    • Acquire reviews and endorsements both on and off Amazon to build credibility and drive demand.
    • Forecast demand, set pricing, negotiate margins, and track sell-through to achieve aggressive revenue targets.
    • Collaborate with Marketing on funnels, affiliate programs, and campaigns that convert readers into coaching and masterclass clients.
    • Oversee search engine advertising strategies (Google Ads and others) to drive traffic and conversions.

    • Multimedia Product Development
    • Oversee production of companion masterclasses (live and on-demand), ensuring curricula align with book IP and coaching frameworks.
    • Manage end-to-end audiobook creation: casting, narration direction, studio scheduling, post-production, and platform distribution (Audible, Spotify, etc.).
    • Analyze consumer feedback and engagement data to refine content, upsell paths, and cross-promotion opportunities.

    • Process & Innovation
    • Implement robust workflows, editorial calendars, and project-management systems to deliver multiple concurrent titles on time and on budget.
    • Evaluate and integrate new publishing technologies, AI tools, and data-driven decision-making to keep Arootah at the forefront of modern content commerce.
    • Continuously identify opportunities to expand Arootah’s publishing brand in new categories and formats.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or related field (Master’s a plus).
    • 7+ years senior editorial experience
    • At least 3 years of experience managing P&L, sales, or distribution responsibilities in trade, business, or professional publishing.
    • Demonstrated success launching best-selling titles and/or premium learning products (i.e., masterclass, e-learning, audiobook, and podcast).
    • Expertise managing Amazon sales programs, advertising campaigns, metadata, A+ content, and category optimization.
    • Strong understanding of reviewer acquisition strategies and direct-to-consumer marketing.
    • Deep knowledge of book sales channels, inventory logistics, and rights/licensing.
    • Fluency in search engine advertising and performance marketing.
    • Proficiency with editorial software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Grammarly, AI writing tools).
