Full-Time
/ On-site
ArsenalBio, a privately held, clinical-stage programmable cell therapy company engineering advanced CAR T therapies for solid tumors, is seeking a talented Senior Research Associate II to work on-site based in our South San Francisco office.
ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic
diseases, initially cancer. With our programmable and computationally driven approach, our team is engineering living medicines to attack cancer’s inherent multi-faceted nature and overcome the challenges of addressing solid tumors with cell therapy.
Driven by a collective of diverse experts across immunology, synthetic biology, molecular biology, automation and computational biology, we are united in purpose to deliver radical breakthroughs for people with cancer, and prioritize the team’s outcomes over individual goals to achieve our company mission – together.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Research or Senior Research Associate to support the ArsenalBio Discovery team. The individual will be responsible for participating in the development and execution of automated T cell isolation, genome engineering, and cell expansion processes and procedures that enable downstream workflows company-wide. This candidate will also be responsible for R&D efforts focused on optimizing and further improving Arsenal’s genome engineering workflows in primary human T cells using our proprietary non-viral engineering technology. The ideal candidate will have experience with mammalian cell culture, experience isolating primary human cells, experience performing flow cytometry, an understanding of CRISPR-Cas9 based cell engineering methods, and experience running laboratory automation including liquid handlers. This position will report to the Lead of the Arsenal T cell Armory (ATA) within the Pre-Clinical Pharmacology group. The individual will also be a major part of expanding the core and research functionality of the ATA with cross-functional interactions with the Pre-Clinical Development, Immunology, Synthetic Biology, Process Development and Analytical Development teams, as well as across the organization to enable ArsenalBio’s success.
What You Will Do:
- Work within the team to enable the core functionality of cell isolation and genome engineering workflows
- Design and execute genome engineering studies to generate edited primary cells using both manual and automated methods.
- Perform automated isolation of primary human T cells starting from enriched apheresis product
- Act as a point person to identify the needs of the organization with respect to fresh primary human T cells and genome engineering services and ensure these needs are met.
- Coordinate and integrate multiple different workflows into the cell isolation and genome engineering core activities.
- Perform characterization of both isolated and gene modified T cell populations
- Assist in the development and optimization of the cell processing platform
- Perform troubleshooting and testing of experimental workflows
- Keep detailed logs of studies to contribute to the dissemination of results
- Support and maintain reagent inventory, instrument maintenance, SOP writing, and related administrative tasks
What Will You Bring:
- Bachelors in cell, molecular, immunological, or genomic basis of human diseases and 4+ years experience.
- Masters in cell, molecular, immunological, or genomic basis of human disease with 2+ years of research experience involving primary T cell culture and isolation.
- Experience in cell processing ideally with systems such as the Miltenyi MultiMACS, Miltenyi MACS magnetic separation, Stemcell Technologies Easysep/Robosep, and equivalent platforms
- Experience with targeted gene editing workflows including CRISPR-Cas9 technology
- Experience developing multi-color flow cytometry panels and performing flow-based analysis on primary human cells
- Experience with automation platforms, specifically Hamilton automated liquid handlers
- Proficiency in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques, pipetting, PCR, and flow cytometry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in GSuite
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job, demonstrate productivity, and deliver high-quality results
What We Will Offer You:
An opportunity to work with the best talent in the field of cell therapy, and be part of ONE TEAM to advance therapies to patients who need it most.
