We are on the lookout for a dynamic and innovative Scientist to drive early discovery efforts within our synthetic immunology team, dedicated to developing the next generation of CAR T cell therapies to transform cancer treatment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in immunology, synthetic biology, cellular biology, or cancer biology, paired with a creative mindset to introduce breakthrough ideas and tackle complex challenges head-on. WHAT YOU’LL DO

    • Develop novel methods to investigate and understand the biochemical and functional properties of specific receptor designs
    • Lead high-throughput screening of synthetic receptors for a portfolio of cell therapy applications
    • Work closely with Molecular Biology experts to create DNA constructs and libraries that encode immune receptor domains. These will be derived from a range of design strategies—rational, semi-rational, and randomized approaches—to maximize diversity and functionality.
    • Stay up-to-date with current research related to multiplexing readouts, synthetic immunology, and cell therapy, and apply these insights to our work. Collaborate with the ArsenalBio team to advance scientific and technical innovation in these areas.
    • Summarize and synthesize data across experiments and present findings to all levels of the organization
    • Offer scientific leadership and mentorship to research associates while effectively organizing and prioritizing tasks across multiple projects.
    • Work collaboratively and proactively with colleagues in automation, computational biology, NGS and discovery in a matrixed team structure

WHO YOU ARE

    • PhD in immunology, molecular or cellular biology or a related field with 0-2  years of relevant experience, Masters with 5+ years experience, or Bachelors with 7+ years experience. Industry experience is preferred but not required. 
    • Have in-depth knowledge of CAR-T, SynNotch, and the synthetic receptor field.
    • Experienced with primary cell culture and functional screening of human immune cells
    • Experienced in flow cytometry including developing flow cytometry panels
    • Ability to develop methods compatible with high throughput screening and collaborate with automation engineers
    • Familiarity with R or similar environments for pipelining of routine data analysis
    • Familiarity with cloning methods and working knowledge of NGS technologies and workflows is a plus
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to organize and communicate complex data sets clearly and concisely to key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds 
    • Ability to multi-task and work in collaboration with peers within a fast-paced team environment with a positive outlook and high degree of self-motivation and organization
    • Entrepreneurial behaviors demonstrated by agility, accountability, transparency, resourcefulness, and ability to get things done effectively

The estimated base salary for the preferred primary location of the San Francisco Bay area ranges from $110,200 - $135,000. Salary ranges for other locations may vary.  Base pay offered may vary based on job related knowledge, experience, education, and location.  In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer.
