Reporting to the Manager of Integration Engineering, the Integration Engineer plays a pivotal role at Artera. This individual will build connectivity layers to enhance seamless communication for our healthcare partners. In this customer-facing engineering role, individuals troubleshoot, apply critical thinking, and actively listen to solve complex problems. The role collaborates extensively with teams across the organization, including Product Management, Software Engineering, Professional Services, and Data teams, to deliver high-quality projects and improve processes.

Proficiency in integration engines, object-oriented programming, and healthcare standards, including Mirth (JavaScript), SQL, HL7, JSON, and IRIS (ObjectScript), is highly desired. This individual will engage in high-quality projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and continuously improve processes.

Responsibilities

    • Problem-Solving: Tackle complex data integration challenges with a proactive and innovative approach, demonstrating logical reasoning and critical thinking skills.
    • Customer Collaboration: Engage with customers to understand their unique integration needs, communicate technical solutions effectively, and ensure alignment with their requirements.
    • Technical Expertise: Utilize your proficiency in JavaScript (Mirth), IRIS/ObjectScript, SQL, and HL7 to develop and maintain the integration layer, ensuring seamless data exchange between Artera's products and customers' systems.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams, particularly the Product team, to provide technical guidance, influence product decisions, and ensure successful project delivery.
    • Quality Assurance: Implement data normalization processes and conduct thorough testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of integration solutions.
    • Strategic Consultation: Act as a consultative resource for product decisions, leveraging your deep understanding of data integration challenges and opportunities to drive strategic initiatives.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Handle PHI (Protected Health Information) in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, maintaining the highest standards of data security and privacy.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and tech debt reduction, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of Artera's data integration capabilities.

Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, additional experience in lieu of a degree is also accepted. 
    • Proficiency in JavaScript (Mirth), SQL, and HL7. 
    • Proficiency in IRIS/ObjectScript HIGHLY desired.
    • Experience with integration engines such as Rhapsody, Corepoint, etc.
    • Strong customer-facing experience with excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Problem-solving skills with a logical and critical thinking approach.
    • Previous experience in designing and deploying enterprise-wide integrated solutions.

Bonus

    • Familiarity with CI/CD initiatives and Agile methodologies is a plus.
    • Knowledge of AWS and experience with monitoring tools like Datadog and Grafana would be advantageous.
    • Previous experience with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources).
$97,000 - $142,000 a year
The compensation for this role will be based on level of experience and the geographic tier in which you are located. This position also comes with equity and a variety of benefits.

Tier 1 Salary: $108,000 - $142,000
   
Non-Tier 1 Salary: $97,000 - $128,000
LOCATION
Artera values in-person collaboration and is currently hiring in the following US cities: Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Bay Area, Kansas City, and Philadelphia (Wayne). 

Artera HQ is in Santa Barbara, CA, and we have an additional US office located in Philadelphia (Wayne), PA. If you live in the Santa Barbara or Philadelphia area, your role will be hybrid and you will be required to work out of your designated office location 3 days a week, unless otherwise noted in the job requirements. 

If you live in Los Angeles, San Francisco/Bay Area, or Kansas City, your role will be remote to start. As our team continues to grow in these cities, Artera will be considering opening offices in these locations. Once that happens, you will be required to work out of your designated office location 3 days a week, unless otherwise noted in the job requirements.
