Job Description: ASAPP, an artificial intelligence startup headquartered in New York City, is seeking an individual to own all components of its global compensation structure.
 
As the manager of Global Compensation this role will work to develop, implement and manage compensation tools, programs and processes for all of our business functions, employees and geographies.  This role will work to ensure that our team is paid competitively and equitably, and in doing so, generate reasons to join and stay our unique organization.
 
This is a crucial hire and one that requires an individual to be a high-level strategic thinker as well as a rollup-the-sleeves doer.  The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to:   wear many hats throughout the course of a day, be comfortable making contributions that span from detailed analysis to executive level summation and interact across all levels and functions of the organization.  Our work environment is open and fast paced and this role presents a great opportunity for individual growth while helping to build our growing organization from the ground up.

What you'll do:

    • You'll be responsible for the following areas:

    • Design:
    • Develop compensation solutions, practices, and plans that are market competitive and support a strong pay for performance environment
    • Lead the annual compensation process, including merit, annual incentive, and equity awards with the goal of creating a “Total Pay Statement’ culture
    • Develop and leverage standardized compensation tools used for analysis and recommendations
    • Provide on-going compensation consulting services such as policy interpretation, assisting with recommendations on pay decisions to maintain internal equity, external competitiveness and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
    • Lead market survey efforts and the analysis of survey results to ensure compensation programs remain externally competitive

    • Grading & Benchmarking
    • Purchase and manage local surveys and create compensation benchmark for a position or a group of position.
    • Manage existing and to-be hired pay levels to ensure competitive pay and internal equity are maintained
    • Approve pay levels of all to-be hired offers as well as approve changes in compensation for all existing employees
    • Prepare and propose salary bands by function by geography
    • Bonus Plan
    • Develop and administer a formal company-wide plan for non-revenue related employees
    • Variable Compensation & Short-Term Incentives
    • Develop variable compensation/commission and short-term incentive plans that drive business results
    • Work with accounting to ensure accuracy and triggers for pay
    • Act as an internal consultant in the design and implementation of sales and other specialized compensation programs

    • Payroll
    • Work with accounting to ensure updates to compensation are properly documented and captured in our payroll systems
    • Review payroll processing on a bi-monthly basis with accounting to ensure accuracy
    • Training, Communication and Change Management
    • Develop and conduct training and education on compensation programs
    • Provide technical and process trainings to HR where applicable
    • Create, prepare, deliver local/individual communication on global, local and strategic compensation programs

    • Compliance
    • Identification, translation and implementation of all appropriate local, regional, and federal legal requirements
    • Ensure full compliance with legal, labor relations, tax and social insurance requirements
    • Interpret and implement tariff/collective/statutory agreements and consequences
    • Define and execute on all relevant audit actions/requests

    • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to create effective, deep and successful working relationships across all levels of the organization

Additional requirements:

    • University degree
    • Minimum of 6+ years of overall work experience within Rewards
    • Strong Project Management and process design and modeling experience
    • Experience working in an international and matrixed environment
    • Exposure to benchmarking tools such as Advanced HR Option Driver
    • High level of affinity to and experience with business/human resources computing solutions
    • Mix of startup and enterprise work experience
