The engineering team’s purpose is to provide a world-class experience for company representatives as they’re chatting with their customers. There is a heavy focus on providing a rich, modern user experience while surfacing useful suggestions and insights that help drive conversations to a positive outcome.

You’ll have strong experience with either Go, C++ or Java. You’ll hopefully have experience with architecture and mentoring (though not totally necessary) -- and you’re ready to really put those skills to work. This role is onsite or hybrid flexible. We have offices in New York City, Northern California, and Bozeman.

What you'll do

    • Join a team of talented engineers to own and build microservices from the ground up
    • Collaborate with engineers and teams across the company to develop new features, improvements, and fixes to handle our current and future scale
    • Contribute to addressing our scaling and infrastructure needs and architecting maintainable systems
    • Implement APIs to support new complex configurations
    • Continuously improve our platform in terms of resiliency, performance, and scalability
    • Be part of the team’s on-call rotations

What you'll need

    • At least 5+ years of backend software development experience (but we have roles open for more experienced developers as well)
    • Core programming proficiency in Go, Python, C++, or Java
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Experience with relational databases: MySQL, Postgres, or equivalent
    • Experience developing backend web services
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What we'd like to see

    • General curiosity and flexibility in working across technologies
    • Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) and/or REST or SOAP APIs
    • Experience with scalable distributed applications
    • Experience with automated testing strategies and related frameworks
    • Experience with instrumentation and observability within browser based applications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, coding bootcamp, or equivalent hands-on experience

- The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $153,000 - 175,000.
If you are a NYC applicant:
- The estimated pay range for this role, based in NYC, is $170,000 - 195,000.
- For Sales positions: this role is eligible to earn commissions and eligible to participate in ASAPP's equity plan.
- For Non-Sales positions: this role is eligible to participate in ASAPP's equity plan.
