About the Position

Millions of customers are interacting with Assurance, across a variety of mediums, and are being connected seamlessly to our thousands of licensed agents. As the Director of Engineering on Agent Experience, you will lead and expand several engineering teams, build new ways of onboarding, training, and incentivizing agents, while building software tools to help them be as effective as possible in serving our customers. In this highly technical role, you will own product feature sets, drive technical roadmaps, and work across many cross-functional teams within our organization.

About You

This position is responsible for driving the product strategy, vision, and execution of new product initiatives. You enjoy taking on the most challenging engineering projects and handle them with autonomy and extremely high visibility. You understand how to effectively prioritize work across the teams and provide updates to the executives and partner teams. You have experience collaborating in an inclusive manner with external and internal engineering teams, data science, product, operations, and others. You have passion for owning a product or feature end-to-end and working collaboratively to drive innovation and deep business impact. You have extremely strong business acumen. To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:

Experience leading multiple engineering teams within tech organization.
Experience delivering highly complex engineering solution on time.
Experience bringing top engineering talent to the team and maintaining high performance bar.
Experience creating and maintaining an optimized and logically sequenced roadmap and translating vague business requirements into clearly defined functional requirements for engineers.
Experience creating product specifications, performing industry analysis, and creating scalable technical architectures.
Proven success aligning product and engineering vision with leadership team and leading cross-functionally to ensure the vision is implemented effectively.
Experience evaluating the business opportunity and application of new and emerging technologies.
Ability to manage prioritization and trade-offs to ensure delivery of a great user experience.
Experience anticipating and resolving strategic issues that impair the team’s ability to deliver.
Working knowledge of SQL.

Analytical aptitude and hands on data-driven problem-solving abilities
CS degree or another equivalent technical degree and/or background
Excellent oral and written communication skills to senior executive audiences
Strong persuasion skills and ability to create buy-in for a bold vision
Experience with agile/Scrum software development

$192,000 - $288,000 a year

Note: Assurance is required by multiple state and city laws to include the salary range on position postings when hiring in those specific locals. The salary range for this position will be between ($192,000-$288,000 CAD ) and may be eligible for additional bonus or commission plans + benefits. Eligibility to participate in the bonus or commission plans is subject to the rules governing those programs, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and/or organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.

Our Offices

We have 4 engineering offices worldwide in Seattle (headquarters), Toronto, Ft. Lauderdale, and Kathmandu. Each office has many teams of engineers; each team owns a set of software applications and business functionality. We work collaboratively across time zones and geographies, using Slack, Zoom, Github, and email. Engineers in remote offices will typically visit headquarters once or twice per year.
