RF Test Engineer (AI&T)

As an RF Test Engineer on the AI&T team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end testing of the custom payload radio on our spacecraft by utilizing your knowledge of RF and digital communications. By working with the rest of the team, you will integrate the payload with the rest of the satellite and guarantee success on orbit.

Role:

    • Development, execution, and documentation of RF payload testing and system-level verification.
    • Characterize and calibrate the performance of integrated radio system (gain, nonlinearity, noise, emissions compliance, EVM, BER, etc)
    • Develop and maintain software in Python for interfacing with test instruments, units under test, and results processing
    • Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause, create actionable items, and system improvements.
    • Interface with engineers from many disciplines to optimize proposed designs for integration, testing, and manufacturability.
    • Specify and drive creation of representative hardware-in-the-loop test systems or system simulators to support software development and system verification and validation.
    • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in EE, CS (or equivalent background knowledge)
    • Experience with Python (or other high-level scripting languages)
    • Experience taking measurements on RF and mixed signal devices with standard test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc)
    • Experience with debugging circuits with embedded software, from oscilloscope to scripting

Bonus:

    • 2+ years of experience testing communications or RF systems
    • Experience with test automation
    • Strong grasp of digital communications concepts
    • Experience designing PCBs using Altium or similar
    • Familiarity with test and qualification of RF hardware for space
