2020 Summer Internship - Content Design Writer
San Francisco, United States
Have you ever found yourself rewriting onboarding tours, in-app tips, or product tutorials in your head? Do you consider information to be a powerful and essential element of a user's experience? If so, a summer internship with Atlassian's Content Design team might be for you! Join us and have a direct impact on how millions of users collaborate and use software every single day.
Atlassian products provide the magic teams need to do amazing things, from helping NASA send a rover to mars to enabling Cochlear to give children the ability to hear. As a writing intern within the Content Design team, you'll be empowered to experiment with a variety of approaches to information in the e-commerce flow, documentation, supporting materials, and anywhere else our customers engage with content. You'll work with writers, designers, developers, product managers, marketers, data science and analysts, and support engineers to ensure that the stories we tell are consistent and create a great experience for our customers. By the end of the internship, you'll gain experience in the agile software development process, Atlassian tools, user research, content strategy, and fast-moving team collaboration.
Not eligible for Visa sponsorship. Unfortunately, we do not offer U.S. work visa sponsorship to F-1 student graduates at this time.
More about you
Information is a powerful and essential element of the buyer’s journey. If that statement makes your eyes light up, you might be who we're looking for.
This internship is for someone who wants to dive into the world of software development, design, and content strategy. We look for people from a range of disciplines and backgrounds; our team of writers includes people who have degrees in English, Media, Design, Art History, Technical Writing, Linguistics, Computer Science, and more. We are also constantly working to find better ways to measure what makes a content forward experience successful. You'll be using these methods (perhaps suggesting new methods we've not thought of) to constantly challenge ourselves and improve our craft.
If the following describes you, you'll be a great fit:
- A knack for creatively engaging with audiences
- A need to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent project management skills
- An ability to challenge yourself and others

- Explaining complex topics to a variety of audiences
- Design thinking and processes (critiques, user journeys, personas)
- Managing and clearly communicating with team members
