We are seeking experts in classical simulation of quantum systems to support a variety of projects that help with the development of neutral atom quantum computing. As a Quantum Theorist at Atom Computing, you will join a team of talented scientists and engineers who are working to translate fundamental atomic physics to a scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computer.

Job Responsibilities

    • Conduct independent and collaborative theoretical and computational projects pertaining to neutral atom quantum computing.
    • Contribute to the development and operation of a variety of quantum circuit simulation programs.
    • Contribute to the development and operation of classical simulations of quantum hardware.
    • Collaborate with Quantum Applications Engineers, Error Correction Theorists, and AMO Theorists to develop realistic circuit-level error models.
    • Contribute to the development of benchmarking and verification procedures for quantum computing devices with large qubit arrays.

Experience & Education

    • PhD (or Masters degree and equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with different methods of quantum circuit simulation.
    • Familiarity with QCVV methods.
    • Familiarity with physics based simulations of gate operations and/or quantum error correction are pluses. 

Qualifications

    • Ability to adapt and develop complex computer programs.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team of experimental physicists, hardware, and software engineers.
    • Temperamentally suited to work at a fast-growing, early stage startup: self-motivated, humble, driven, collaborative, and has a high tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty.

The base salary range for this position is between $135,000 - $165,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, we offer an annual bonus and equity in the company.
