We are looking for a driven, self-starter Supply Chain Lead. You will be responsible for building the supply chain function from scratch, solving the most challenging production and quality constraints across our supply base, driving cost optimization and systematically improving delivery capabilities. Armed with a technical understanding of capabilities in the supply base, you will be the voice of manufacturability to bridge the gap between internal engineering and our critical supplier partners. This requires strong communication skills, the ability to set a path forward in the face of ambiguity and utilization of people skills to successfully navigate stressful situations as you will often be taking the lead on difficult projects. You will have the opportunity of playing a significant role in new energy programs as you develop an in-depth knowledge of design intent, and work with suppliers to ensure process plans that will produce parts that meet quality, cost and production requirements.

This position is hybrid and will likely require 40% travel domestically in the US and internationally.

What You'll Do:

    • Build a supplier base from the ground up.
    • Negotiating contracts to drive cost optimization.
    • You will support engineering functions in the design process and procurement functions in supplier award decisions.
    • You will own technical risk identification and mitigation strategies at the supplier.
    • Work with design team to develop quick prototypes for testing.
    • Apply engineering know-how in the areas of optics, mechanism and structural design, motion control, and thermal systems.

What You Have:

    • BS/MS in Engineering or Science with 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent industry experience.
    • 2+ years of experience interfacing directly with manufacturing engineers and suppliers.
    • Experience with ERP/MRP tools.
    • Manufacturing planning and procurement experience.
    • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Self-starter with a high sense of urgency, strong sense of agency.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

    • 5+ years experience of in supply chain engineering role at renewable energy company or high volume production facility.
    • MBA in Supply Chain Management or PhD in Industrial Engineering or relevant schooling.
    • Strong network of suppliers and contract manufacturers based in the USA.
    • A background in supply chain development for extreme-temperature applications.
    • A background in supply chain development for high-precision, high-volume, low-cost mechanical assemblies.
    • A background in supply chain development for high-volume circuit boards.
    • Past experience with system integration.
    • Past experience working with US domestic supply base, North American suppliers and International suppliers.
    • CAD skills in SolidWorks or Creo.
$175,000 - $200,000 a year
