About the Operations team
The Operations team – with functions spanning Finance, Strategy and Legal – plays a crucial role at Attest – we get things done. We’re pivotal in ensuring the cogs keep turning, and that the best decisions for the company are being made at all times. We implement and manage scalable consistency and ensure that our ultimate priorities, as a business, are being met. We work in a complementary capacity with all departments, whether that be in an advisory or functional capacity.
This is a newly created role in our legal team. You will report to the General Counsel and provide support to the whole of Attest, from employment and data protection queries, through to commercial contracts, corporate and GDPR compliance, and everything in between. You will work with the business to provide legal advice always aimed at maximising opportunities while minimising risk, with a particular focus on supporting our Growth (Commercial + Marketing) and PeopleOps teams as we scale both our employee count, as well as our customer count.

Successfully support, grow and defend the company and its legal ecosystem through its various stages of growth.
The legal team at Attest pro-actively and knowledgeably guides other teams within the business to identify, brainstorm and address key issues and build foundations for commercial progression and self-sufficiency, through training or otherwise. The team’s role is to support and elevate others across the business. Reducing mandatory touch-points with legal over time is a sign we’re doing a great job of building a scalable and robust legal operation.
Working closely with every team in the business, this role will initially have a particular focus on supporting our Commercial and PeopleOps teams as they ramp up and scale so that our Growth team can do more deals, of ever-higher quality - faster, and our PeopleOps team is supported in building out our benefits offerings to be the best it can be, implementing plain English employment contracts, and providing employment support as necessary.
This is an opportunity for a commercial generalist who is autonomous, people-oriented and bright to take ownership of a whole host of super interesting legal projects across the entire business to really help drive our growth to the next stage.
We’d love to hear from you if...
• You are a UK qualified (or equivalent) solicitor with at least 1 years’ PQE (we don’t care whether you trained at a local family firm or a magic circle firm - we’re open to all backgrounds, but it would be a bonus if you have some in-house experience, and/or have good data privacy knowledge with some contentious experience (e.g. a seat in litigation, employment disputes etc.)
• You are entrepreneurial with a solid grounding in commercial and employment matters.
• You have a deep understanding and extensive experience of English law, and in particular some expertise on matters relevant to tech organisations You are familiar and comfortable working with international law and cross-jurisdictional matters (in particular, with US counterparts)
• You are happy handling the widest range of legal issues that come up in a start-up environment, even if outside your core areas of expertise, and can sensibly assess when best to engage external counsel in a cost-effective way.
• You feel happy working independently and as a team.
• You are pragmatic in nature, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced business and with ambiguity, effortlessly handling volume, detail and complexity, but working and communicating with simplicity. What we’re doing here at Attest excites you!
