As a Software QA Engineer on the Augustus team, you will be responsible for testing code at the user level, both manually and with automated tools. Our QA Engineers use black box, grey box, and white box testing techniques; they are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests and/or user-level test automation tools. You will work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies. You will also have the opportunity to work with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests. 

Your day will look a little something like this:

    • Have a mid-morning stand-up with the development team
    • Write some tests to improve the stability of the feature you're testing this week
    • Meet with a cross-functional team (including domain experts and researchers) to work on that hard problem for our customer
    • Head off to lunch with a few teammates
    • Spend some uninterrupted quality time writing robust manual and automated customer centric test cases to continuously improve the Augustus AI experience 
    • Work with a team of quality engineering professions to ensure the highest quality product and service delivery against defined milestones
    • Provide detailed status reports for a wide range of stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and years relevant work experience, or relevant work experience
    • Strong years’ experience in a test or development role as part of a product development organization which has delivered consumer-oriented products
    • Experience with QA methodology (test generation, planning and strategy) and tools (e.g. bug tracking tools)
    • Experience communicating complex topics in a simple, understandable way
    • Experience in UNIX/Linux/Android operating systems
    • Experience in Perl/Python/JavaScript scripting
    • Strong experience in test automation

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
    • Experience working closely with development and business teams to communicate problem impacts and to understand business requirements.
    • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment
    • Experience in interacting and coordinating test activities amongst multiple teams
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to generate and communicate meaningful development metrics
    • Experience working on an Agile environment (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
    • Experience improving product test coverage and effectiveness
