Senior Computational Scientist

San Francisco, CA
We are looking for an experienced, ambitious computational engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex projects while collaborating with existing members of Aurora’s computation team. Ideally, you have academic and/or industry experience working on computational/numerical programming and modeling, with a deep understanding of electrical circuits. We are a fast-growing startup and each engineer develops key features that transform the way solar is designed and sold.     • You will take charge of developing Aurora’s energy performance simulation engine
    • You will work with solar equipment manufacturers to build and integrate behavioral and/or equivalent circuit models of their hardware
    • You will investigate and implement upgrades to Aurora’s ray tracing-based shade engine
    • You will collaborate with other members of the computation team to maintain and upgrade Aurora’s cloud-based infrastructure to handle large-scale simulations and ever-growing client demand


    • Proficiency in Python and C
    • Academic or industry background in circuit analysis, especially involving diodes and semiconductors
    • Experience in solving nonlinear systems
    • Optimization background is a plus
    • Experience in solar is a plus
    • MS/PhD in EE/ECE preferable
    • Passionate about renewable energy and sustainability
