Aviya has an opening for a Engine Performance Analyst / Data Scientist (DPHM)to join our engineering group in Mississauga, Ontario.
Specific Position Duties
- Support development and validation of highly automated engine diagnostic, prognostic and health trend monitoring systems for PW800 specific Turbofan applications
- Support development and implementation of advanced engine performance condition trend monitoring algorithms for all P&WC engine types and models
- Perform aero-thermodynamic cycle analysis and make aircraft engine performance trend predictions by creating deterioration models/simulations in support of product entry into service
- Analyze steady state and transient engine trend data in support of engine performance, control, stress and aerodynamic studies
- Investigate system level issues related to aircraft gas turbine engine design, performance, operability and operation.
- Develop and implement scripts, algorithms, machine learning, data clustering and fault classification techniques within a relational database structure to manage, aggregate and search data in support of advanced diagnostics and prognostics
- Develop and validate engine and aircraft operational data cleansing scripts and filtering techniques to ensure accurate trend service delivery
- Create, validate and implement advanced aircraft utilization algorithms and engine performance trend monitoring tools to enhance engine maintenance forecasting accuracy
- Develop and validate engine FADEC fault code and event detection algorithms and automate prescriptive maintenance recommendations
- Support implementation of dashboards and BI solutions for internal and external customer reporting
Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor or Master in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years of engineering experience required in the field of aviation.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mathematics or Computer Science with 2 years of experience will also be considered
- Background or demonstrated expertise in aircraft engine performance and aerodynamics, sizing, cycle analysis and/or preliminary design analysis
- Experience with aircraft MSG3 analysis and aircraft/engine maintenance processes and procedures
- Strong computer programming skills using the languages Python, R, and C#
- Experience in .NET web development using the MVC framework within Visual Studio
- Familiar with data visualization techniques using Matplotlib, HighCharts and/or PowerBI
- Extensive experience with MS Office applications
- Experience with MS SQL server 2012 and utilizing SSIS and SSAS to analyze large relational databases
- Experience with the application of statistical based tools in MATLAB and/or R Studio
- Familiar with data mining and machine learning algorithms in toolkits such as scikit-learn and TensorFlow
- Experience with deploying application code on cloud platform such as Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
- Familiar with big data analytics and BI solutions on AWS or Microsoft Azure platforms
- Familiar with key AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, etc.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficient at handling several analytical tasks concurrently
- Understanding of aircraft engine data acquisition and current sensor technology
