Aviya has an opening for a Project Engineer (DPHM) to join our engineering group in Mississauga, Ontario.
Specific Position Duties
- Accountable for technical solution definition and development of all phases of DPHM engineering projects including concept definition, requirement development, architecture design, implementation, verification and validation and maintenance planning
- Accountable for the technical scope, project schedule, outcome and on-time delivery of each engineering project and own the schedule and assigned project budget from start to finish as per agreed upon approved Gate 2
- Communicate the resource requirements for full execution of engineering project scope and provide updates to engineering manager and DPHM project manager in support of annual resource and budget planning as applicable
- Prepare project status reports with milestone achievements delivered to DPHM engineering manager, associated DPHM PM, project stakeholders and external customers and maintain oversight on supplier contracts where applicable
- Organize and lead regular project IPT meetings and project RAIL reviews
- Lead coordination efforts with other engineering groups, engine program managers and departments within P&WC as required for project success
- Integrate and maintain resource usage metrics between project deliverables and delivery of technical tasks within the engineering team
- Lead new development requirements gathering and support new engine programs and services enablement
- Highlight project risks, raise change requests and/or find feasible solutions and ensure best practices and processes are followed throughout project execution
- Lead continuous process optimization initiatives and support development and update of project management best practices and standards
Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor or Master in Engineering
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of project engineering experience required in the field of aviation with focus in system software design, development and certification
- Certification in Project Management
- Strong knowledge of aerospace standards (ARINC 429, DO-178B/C, DO-278)
- Experience with engine control systems and requirements writing
- Strong knowledge of software configuration management and testing standards
- Understanding of Internet of Things connectivity and configuration management
- Proven program/project management experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Agile development standards
- Extensive experience with MS Office applications
- Highly collaborative with strong teamwork skills
- Strong analytical skills and highly motivated with effective problem solving skills
- Proficient at handling several analytical tasks concurrently
- Proficient in data modeling techniques and systems engineering projects
