We are seeking an AI Scientist to join our Science team. You’ll be responsible for advancing our Sign Language recognition and translation capabilities. This work includes designing novel models related to gesture identification, video segmentation, and context-aware language correction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in video handling, signal processing, spatial-temporal convolutions and transformers, graph neural networks, and joint training of interrelated models.
Basic Functions
- Develop and refine models for image and video analysis of fine hand position and motion from 2d inputs without the aid of additional sensors.
- Build systems to segment signs into constituent elements in real time.
- Provide key contributions to the development of novel AI methods to facilitate establishment of the company’s competitive advantages and IP.
- Drive improvements in visual understanding quality through R&D via both modeling and by building tools that support human-in-the-loop annotation and evaluation.
- Develop algorithms and models to explore different sign modeling approaches.
- Monitor state-of-the-art AI technologies and provide assessments of their suitability to the company’s software applications.
- Actively engage in scientific research and publication activities, including literature review, method development and evaluation, and manuscript writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required
- Solid knowledge of AI & ML technologies outside of LLMs.
- Proficiency in building or fine-tuning neural network models for computer vision tasks.
- Experience designing and optimizing image and video preprocessing pipelines.
- Familiar with applying DPO or other contrastive learning related techniques.
- Experience using deep learning frameworks for applied computer vision.
- Publications in vision-related journals and/or conferences.
- Solid programming skills, including writing production-level code.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability.
- Experience working with sign language a plus (not required).
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, or a related field.
$150,000 - $180,000 a year
