We are looking for an enthusiastic Jr. AI Scientist to join our Science team. You’ll be responsible for transforming medical expertise into structured knowledge and AI-driven components that power Avodah’s Medical AI Engine.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate otologic domain knowledge into structured, computable forms such as ontologies and knowledge graphs.
- Design and prototype NLP and Information Extraction (IE) components to extract relevant otologic concepts, relations, and insights from unstructured clinical data.
- Develop algorithms and models to explore different Symbolic AI approaches.
- Contribute to the design of online and federated learning pipelines for continuous model refinement.
- Administer data sets, including responsibilities related to data quality, data maintenance and archiving, analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with medical experts to align clinical meaning with technical models.
- Partner with software engineers to ensure smooth handoff of models and data structures for implementation.
- Monitor state-of-the-art AI technologies and provide assessments of their suitability to the company’s software applications.
Skills & Attributes
- PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics or a related technical field.
- Solid knowledge of biomedical ontologies, taxonomies and controlled vocabularies.
- Solid knowledge of AI & ML technologies outside of LLMs.
- Experience working in healthcare/medicine is a big plus.
- Ability to extract structured insight from unstructured records.
- Experience in Designing Knowledge Graph and Description Logic Inference systems.
- Experience in creating custom training datasets, including data collection, preprocessing, and augmentation.
- Ability to synthesize complex medical concepts into usable AI components.
- Skilled in Python and modern ML frameworks
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of clinical and laboratory data processes in medicine and healthcare.
- Abilities to understand, and analyze patient visit transcripts, clinical notes, laboratory reports and other medical data.
- Experience with knowledge representation tools and graph-based embeddings.
